That's the car I saw at SEMA. It's a helicopter turbine engine that is hooked up to the rear wheels. The regular supercharged MCS motor still drives the front wheels. From the outside, with the boot closed, the car looks like a stock silver MCS. The pipes going up are the turbine exhausts. They go to oval holes in the roof that slide closed when the turbine isn't operating. It was an impressively engineered machine.
The company that was displaying at SEMA is Marine Turbine. Their website hasn't been updated in a while and doesn't mention the MINI but does advertise their turbine powered motorbikes making 320hp moving 500 pounds of bike.
DaFlake, you're right. Looks like they have an ongoing relationship with Rolls Royce for their turbine engines.
