R50/53 Got my MINI today!
Hi all. I've been lurking around here for a while now, but finally decided to make my first post on the day that I picked up my new MINI! All I can say is that I am in love.
Here's my baby: Indy blue, white roof, (white bonnet stripes next week), 5-speed manual, premium package, sport package, cold weather package, chrome bumper inserts, xenon headlights.
I've been wanting a MINI for a while now. But, on Monday I was taking a little business trip and found myself behind a silver MINI for about 100 miles. I could not take my eyes off of it. The next morning I was at the dealer (Cincinnati MINI), and I found exactly the car I wanted right there on the lot. (I think it was waiting for me). Just a day later, it is sitting pretty in my garage.
I'd appreciate any special tips for new MINI owners. Well, here's dumb question number one: I know that pulling the light switch bar forward will flash the high-beams, but for the life of me, I cannot seem to find a function that will leave them on. Not that I would do that very often, I just would like to know how. Either I missed something really obvious in the manual, or I'm just plain blind.
Thanks!

Hey, congrats! Your MINI looks like mine (pictured below. I'm adding the bonnet stripes on the next sunny day we get here).
You're almost there -- you can flash the high beams by pulling back on the stalk while the headlights are off. When the headlights are on (by rotating the ****), pulling back on the stalk toggles the highs on and off. Didn't the dealer go over the whole car with you when you picked it up? Mine spent about an hour on it.

Congrats on the new MINI and welcome to MCO!
Lucky you! Being able to just walk in and buy the one you wanted instead of waiting months and months like most!

McDeb-Aloha and welcome to MCO- it's your first post! , Then leave your car alone
And preserve your privacy
Or you can go all out and have a blast- this is one fun car to drive around.
I also didn't have to wait much. I shopped one week, didn't see much on the lot that I really liked. called back a week later found that 2 indy blue MCS were available, took one for a test drive and then bought it the next day. Later I found out that others were waiting for over 5 months to get theirs.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! The dealer did go over the entire car with me, but I must admit that everything she was saying was going in one ear and out the other. I was too busy thinking: "Wow, did I really just buy this?"
Anyway, I did spend a couple of hours with the manual this morning and most things are explained pretty well.
Has anyone ordered the petal kit set, and if so how do you like them?

You have a 5 speed cooper which should be able to fit the MINI OEM parts for the Cooper S metal pedal set.
Ask your parts dept for the prices on the MCS metal pedalset. I think there are two similar shaped rubber and metal covers for the brake and clutch pedals that you have now. Just remove the old rubber ones and put on the metal ones
If you deal pedal on the far left is not metal then you can add one that is and then for the gas pedal there is a long metal pedal with an installation kit that is available.
One of the MCO sponsors is Classic and they can help you get the parts for less and ship them to you. You can get someone to help you install them. I think they look better than most pedal upgrades. if you want to see what the finished pedal set looks like then check out any new mini cooper S. All the pedals should look like metal with black rubber strips for grip.
If you like the aftermarket look then there are also other choices- some fully metal by Momo.
