New member from the big north!!

Hello everyone, my girlfriend just got herself a cooper S 06. This thing is absolutely amazing and am completely hooked. The Car has been sitting in our garage for barely a week and already parts are coming in. Almost all the money I had put aside for my own summer toy is almost all in the mini.

Sorry for the bad pic but this was taken in the shop at work. First mod was the aero grill kit. Oh Boy! good thing I can handle the dremel. Now I got Hella 500 sitting on my table waiting to be installed. I've search this forum but can seem to find good info on connecting the lights to stock fog lights using original toggle switch. Can anyone help or should ask my question in the electrical section?

Thanks guys and glad to be part of this community.

So bascially you drive your gf's new car everywhere in exchange for buying her mods for the car? Not a bad deal

Welcome - great car (I likke the flame spoke wheels - I thought they onnly came on the Checkmate edition and didn't know you could get those froma dealer, or was the car used? Really nice either way

For the Hellas, it depends on how you want them to run. If you just want them on with the factory fogs, use the power wire from your factory foglight to trigger a relay to power the lights. That way you're not overloading the switch. Only problem, the factory fogs only come on with the parking lights and low beams, and cut off with the highs (at least that's how my '06 works). If your Hellas are DRIVING lights, you'll want the ability for them t be "on" with the highs. If they're foglights, you're set.

www.rallylights.com has some wiring diagrams, or ask in the electricals section (or do a search, there are a few threads out there, but it can be tough to wade through everything).

Welcome to the community!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. The wheels are actually called "horseshoe" design and came with "rally" edition. I don't know if you guys could get those but in 06, you could get a mini soho (base model) and rally (cooper S). They made them the same with a bunch of options in 4 colors only and by doing so, they were able the bring the cost down.

Thanks for the tips on the lights.

We refer to them on NAM as "horseshoes" but Mini calls 'em "Flame" wheels, or "Flame Spoke" http://www.mini.com.au/scripts/main....=16461&LEVEL=2 Stock in the US on the Cooper S Checkmate package, and I think they're now available on the '07's (which makes my Checkmate a little less exclusive, though my flame spokes are in boxes in the garage so I can use my BBSs!)

What color is your g/fs car? Looks like Astro Black (my favorite) and looks great with the body color mirrors and roof, and black grille. Well done! So - when are YOU going to get one? :D

I said horseshoe cause that's what was written in the Rally flyer but otherwise, I don't know much about Minis and that's the reason I am here. Yes the car is Astro Black but under the light, it looks more like blue.

The Mini is very addictive but not sure if I would get one. We like to diversify the type of cars in our couple. I have the passat on BBS Lm 19s for going out, the Mini for fun driving around town and the 911 for track duties. Who knows, maybe the mini will become her track toy......

I have those same rims. They were part of the special Checkmate Package with Pirelli tires (in the USA), perhaps Canadians got other deals. I believe they are offered for the 07 models as an option but I may have had a moment of laxitude there. Welcome with the Mini! They are so versatile...and so addictive.
