No more DRL?

Hello All,

I have an 06 Cooper and I was just told by two dealerships that DRLs can no longer be programmed due to recent software updates.

Does this make any sense? My car was delivered with DRLs already on and when I went to have my alarm activated about a year ago, I realized the DRLs were turned off. When I went back to the same dealer, they said that they can't activate them anymore.

Is this true? or has anyone recently activated the DRLs after you've taken delivery?

much thanks in advance for your input!

Daytime Running Lights.

And I call BS. My JCW is a 2006 (11/06 build) which was delivered with DRLs off, but turned on the day the MINI was delivered.

Hey Paul, my Coop was delivered the same time as yours and my DRLs were turned on at that time. it was only sometime later in the year when I had my alarm activated that the dealers were saying that corporate updated their software and can no longer activate daytime running lights.

perhaps they can only be activated by the factory and not post-delivery at this time? i'll have to call ASK-MINI tomorrow.

Perhaps.... but I still think it's unlikely. Calling MINI USA is a good idea. I would also call around to other dealerships in the area and see what they say. Even if you take it to another dealership and they charge you, it should only be about $50 or so.

I had the EXACT same thing happen DRL's were active when I got the car. 6 months later we had the Alarm installed and NO DRLs I e-mailed the dealer about it (didn't notice the DRLs were off at the time)... but never received a response
We're trying to get in to MINI of Nashville this weekend to have the clutch looked at (Got the tapping "issue") and if we go, I'll see what they have to say cause I want my DRLs back on

I also call BS. In some places you must have DRLs.

Definetely BS. In October after I had my alarm activated, they wiped all my options. I thought that might happen, so I checked before I left on my two hour drive home. They re-programmed me that day.

sounds like the dealer doesnt want to deal with you after they made their money off ya... i'd report this to miniusa if i were you.

I reported similar activity with a defective nav screen at the dealership and miniusa took care of it. now my screen is as it should have been, even though i wasted several hours out of my life to go to and from the dealership.
