In mid-December I noticed this dent just above the driver's side side repeater of my '06 MCS. It's small and hard to see straight on, but noticeable from an angle. I've pointed it out to friends, and most of them think it looks like something caused by the manufacturing process. It doesn't appear to be a door ding. The paint is completely untouched...there's just a dent there...and it's right in that crease between those two panels. Any ideas? Has anyone else seen something like this on their MINI?
Sorry about the pics. It was raining some today, and the car has definitely had cleaner days.
Yep I have it too. In fact my two MCS's (2004 & 2005) have exhibited the same "creases" in the areas shown in the photos. I just think this is something with the steel stamping process of the panel in question and not a deliberate dent.
There are some funky creases going on in those panels. One of mine is covered in dents too that just keep appearing. Luckily they are small, if it bothers you paintless dent removal could probably smooth them out.
Looks to me like a rude fellow motorist. The car showed up like that, or it just happened? I have one, too, but I noticed it after a windy day. No paint damage luckily...
That panel is the achilles heel of the MINI. I've had 3 door dings just on that one panel. The metal is so thin, it doesn't take much of a tap to dent it.
Just curious...about how much can I expect to pay to remove something like that?
I had something about that size popped out by a Paintless' guy via the dealer. Ran a shade under $200.... not the cheapest way to go but they where there when I'd dropped the car off for oil change so.....
Good news is they called with a price first. No charge to ask how much. Maybe cheaper to go to the dent remover directly. I've no idea if the dealer added a percentage
wrt to the ? about this applying towards your deductable. My car insurance ain't like my health insurance. The deductable is per claim not per year..... your's different? that said - this isn't collision damage, it would be covered under comp'. I recently asked what my annual rate change would be to go from where I was to a zero deductable on my comp'. It was about $20 a year..under $50 for all 3 cars on the policy....now if I need a windshield there is zero deductable. Why did I wait so long to ask this question? .. after 4 windshields on various cars in 3 years with $200 deductable on each :impatient Sadly this discovery was after the dent fix too....
never hurts to ask.....but also recog' that all ins companies differ...as does the rates 'twixt any two people.....almost as complicated as buying airline tix
