Interior Disassembly Experts - Glove Box

I'd like to mount something to the floor of my glove box. This means that I will have to drill small holes through the bottom of it to attach the device.

Is it possible to remove a trim piece or something so I could get to the bottom side of the glove box floor? That way, I could drill up through it.

Full Disclosure: I want to move the mounting location of our iRide iPod dock from our GoMiniGo glove box organizer to the floor of the glove box. That way when I'm autocrossing the car, I can have iPod mounted securely. (it currently bounces too much mounted on the glove box organizer)

Here's what the iRide looks like:

Thanks! (I always forget about that site)

It almost looks like the glove box is all one piece with the door attached. Hmmm.......

Anyone have first hand experience with this?

I've also got the GoMiniGo GBT, and never had any issues with it moving around. My iPod dock/sleeve (like that pictured) is mounted on the upper left front of the tidy.

Maybe some shims or foam to tighten the fit of the tidy?

You're iRide is mounted in the same location as mine.

I actually empty out the entire glove box before I autocross the car. Call me ****, but I just don't like any extra weight and/or rattles while I'm racing.

If I mount the iRide to the floor of the glove box, it would work better for my personal situation.

If the mounting doesnt work out, you can try some heavy duty velcro, good luck on mounting your ipod

To get a better look at things, removing the glovebox is pretty easy. It's really just removing the Torx 20 screws on the left and right side of the box (probe in the little cut-outs, the screws are in there), one in the back, and two on the top rim. Oh, and removing the little hose that runs to the back of the box that provides A/C and heat. It then simply comes out.

Good luck!

Ah, but you give up that space for soda cans on long summer drives!

Do you really need your iPod during an event? You could just leave it where it is, pulling it all out in one piece; dock and tidy. Put the pod in your shirt pocket and snake the ear buds up under your helmet.

Thanks Paul! So to be clear, all 5 sides of the glove box interior and door come out as one piece? I'll look at it closer this weekend.

They should, I took mine out two weeks ago to fix a rattle. Just started pulling screws and everything just sorta flopped out on me.

When you put everything back together you'll want to make sure your torx driver is magnetized when re-installing the screws on the left and right sides. Because they are recessed back from the face of the box it makes them exceptionally hard to install properly with a non-magnetized driver.
