Decision re Bonnet Stripes for DS/B MCS

Hi Folks -

This is my first post here. First, I need to thank all of you here and on mini2. About a month ago I was completely clueless on MINIs, other than knowing that I really liked the look. Around then, I decided I wanted one, and started to read these forums, and I've learned so much from all of you. (Though I must say I've spent waaay too much time on these forums in that time.)

Yesterday, I put the deposit on a 2006 Dark Silver MINI Cooper S with black roof and black mirrors. I want black bonnet stripes, but here is the decision I have to make:

1. black bonnet stripes with white border, or
2. black bonnet stripes with no border.

I've seen many pictures (and a few in person) of the dark silver with the black bonnet stripes with the white border. I'm just not sure about the white border given the dark silver car and the fact that there is no white anywhere else on the car. But I have only seen one picture of a dark silver with black bonnet stripes with no border, so I'm not sure on that either.

So ... any opinions? Also, any other pictures of dark silver with black bonnet stripes and no border?

If this post belongs in a different forum, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your opinions/comments/pictures.

- Mitch

I ordered mine with no stripes. I didn't like the sport stripes with white border. had the new all black 'viper style' been available, I would have gotten them, but had custom ones made instead.

I think you're right about the white being out of place (just my opinion). Perhaps black with silver pin?
Oh, and welcome to the group.

That's really a classy look!! Just the right amount of red, in my opinion. I like the "viper" style stripe better than the others I've seen. Good job!!

Nice idea about the silver pin. Might give some of the effect of the pinstripe without being as bold. I'll have to think about it some more!

Thanks. Nice to be here.

I like the 3concina's idea of custom ordering black stripes with the silver trim. It would look sharp.

I'd go with the white pin stripe or silver metallic pinstripe to break up the darkness of the black and dark silver...I have the black and white pin stripe on my MCSc ,it came on the car when I first saw it and my first impression was to trash it... but after a while I saw that they match the MCS quite nicely..it gives it a more sporty look without making it look too much like a teenagers' car...km

As a fellow DS/B owner, I vote for plain black - no pinstripe. You can't go wrong with viper or 'classic' stripes. Have you considered having the stripe go all the way from the bottom of the front bumper to the bottom of the rear bumper?

Thanks for all the feedback folks.

I am going with the plain black for now. I like the silver idea though so that might be something in the future.

Just the bonnet stripes for now (traditional kind).

Right now I'm just super-excited to pick it up on Friday!
