R50/53 Input on floor mats please!
My MCS is due in at the end of May and dealer would not throw in floor mats (at least I asked). I like the looks of the ones they offer through the dealer, but I think they were $95 (excluding boot mat!) I'm wondering if anyone knows if those particular mats are ONLY available through MINI dealers or, if not, where I could find them. I've seen various ones on different sites, but none look to be what MINI offers. Also, for those of you who went through your dealer for them, I'm wondering if black or gray would be the way to go with black interior/silver dash. I believe the carpeting is grayish in the car - I can't remember! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on anything you might have to add. Thanks much! NUMMY
 I had to pay to release my MCS from the captivity of the dealership. If you go to the Sponsor Directory on MCO you can find many sources of various floor mats to use in any cooper. If you like the rubber mats then try https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/classicauto.php and ask them for the Mini rubber mats or other mats of your choice- they are a source of OEM mini parts.
Otherwise there are oodles of choices for mats in all sorts of colors and textures- cloth, metal, rubber, etc.
I have the black rubber ones and they are OK. Nice to keep clean and durable. Resists stains and dries easily if you have a spill or they get wet. They are not warm and fuzzy like carpet but they have a nice round MINI logo on the front mats that I like.
Mini makes two sorts of floor mats listed in the 2003 accessories booklet. There are rubber mats in black beige or grey and there are carpet mats in Black beige and grey. The color of your floor carpet under the mats usually matches your car color or interior color. You didn't mention your choice of exterior color and roof nor your choice of seat covers. This info might help to render an opinion on choice of floor mat color. From your post it seems you are leaning toward selecting the carpet floor mat set of four for $94.50.
By the way you can ask if the dealer will allow you to purchase the mats as a part from the parts dept for a 10% discount (my dealer did at the time of purchase) or maybe even 15% off if you are a member of the National BMW club of America. Some options to think about

>>Question: Those with MINI factory mats...are they holding up well?
I think we will be looking into the Coco mats soon - our factory mats are looking a bit worn

My MINI mats were something like $90 and they were from the dealership....they are the carpet ones and they are holding up fantastically. Whenever they get a little dirty, Resolve carpet cleaner does the trick. No visible wear and tear at all.
I don't have a boot mat...I don't really have a need for one...although knowing me I will eventually buy one anyway.

Hey L.Mini - can I ask what color you went with and what the interior is like in your MINI? I really think I'm gonna go with these, just have to decide whether to get gray or black. So many decisions......
Thanks for all the input every1. COOPERation, I will check out these highly recommended Coco mats from gotmini.com!

They are gray (silver...whatever). There is a black circular area that goes underneath your right foot (for your heel when you accelerate). And the MINI logo on each of the front mats and this sort of reflective material around the outside...which I think looks cool. They compliment my pure silver/black MINI very nicely! My interior is also gray and black with the cloth seats so everything matches up really well. I have had my MINI since early August of last year and they still look great....and as I said easy to clean and everything.
I have a CR/B with a black and silver interior with kaleido cloth seats.
My dealer included the mats with no extra charge. Just front and rear, no boot mat. I am thinking of getting a rubber boot mat, and maybe rubber front mats to use during the winter.
The piping around the mats is not white, it just reflects the flash from my camera.

>>Yes, I might regret getting the carpeted mats, but I now have cloth in my 15 yr old Fiero and they held up well. Also, I like the look more. My husband has rubber in his truck and they seem to slide around a bit. My mats have velcro on the back which locks them in place.
i have minis rubber floor mats. rubber is the only way to go for me... as far as floormats are concerned. i think you're talking about cloth floor mats here but the rubber ones that i got from mini also use a velcro system to keep them in place. these floor mats have not budged... they're the best floor mats i have used.. they look great too!
i highly recomend them! and the boot box is fun....
Although floor mats have been discussed a gazillion times, this thread has a nice little twist in that we are getting to talk about actual experience over time instead of SIMPLY preference (although preference still pokes through in most posts!
).
Anyhow, I can't say enough about how well my rubber MINI mats (front, back, and boot) have held up (even through a long, yucky winter), stayed in place, and how EASILY they clean up! They look like brand new each time I take 2 minutes to wipe them with a wet rag. I don't know if I will ever get carpet mats again!
On a slightly different note, I was initially concerned that the rubber mats might make the interior somehow feel cheaper.... I have exactly the opposite feelings now - I think that since the rubber mats don't fray, stain, or get worn that they help the car to continue to look "fresh" with nice crisp lines. I don't know if my wording makes sense, but I hope it gets the idea across.
Lastly, let me say that I notice the MINI carpet mats seem different from most other carpet mats I've had (I'm no carpet expert, but I would say that they seem to be a loop carpet instead of a pile, which might wear less over time) - so they may very well not even fit my pre-conceived notions about carpet mats. ...but I'm sticking to the rubbers!

My MINI grey carpet mats are holding up fine. It looks like it came straight from the factory and was meant to be in the car...a perfect match!
Total cost-$85 for all 4 mats, no boot mat. Wheel locks and 2 MINI key chains were "freebies"
I knew I wanted rubber floormats, but MINI's 2003 version just wasn't as cool as their 2002 version. So I found the 2002 version on ebay. The seller still has some - here's a link to a current auction.. $60 + shipping. I got the matching boot mat as well.
I can't wait to put them in the car!

Suppposedly they stopped selling these due to people's heels getting caught in the rubber circles while moving from pedal to pedal. I've never heard that confirmed but it was odd they pulled that design so fast.
Personally I think they're pretty cool as they extend the design elements of the car a bit.

I LOVE my rubber floor mats! I love how they fit the floor and around the pedals perfectly. I had the dealer throw in the cloth ones (because they were more expensive! hehe!) and bought the rubber ones for the messy winter weather. They are great - very easy to hose down and they are like new again. The only strange thing (1st time rubber mat user) is that in wet snowy weather there is no where to really "dry" the bottom of my shoes and every once in a while this would lead to a "shoes slipping off the pedal" problem. Oops. No big deal, I would just have to drive a bit more carefully for a little while. Still like them though!
The rubber MINI mats are excellent.!
The Carpet seem a little thin to me. We use rubber in the winter and carpet in the summer. But I think I would just stick to Rubber if it were just my choice

I got the OEM mats from the dealer for 10% off the retail of $95.00. They fit and look great; however with only 700 miles I am starting to notice matting on the carpet where I rest my left foot. I would rather have to replace a set of $95.00 mats than have to repair the vehicles carpet. With BMW automobiles if you include the floor mats on the original purchase order the mats will have the same warranty as the vehicle and not the warranty that comes with spare parts. I would image MINI has the same policy.

Once again the floor mat topic surfaces. So many people complain about the OEM mats that it makes sense to look elsewhere. I love the Cocomats and think they will last as long as the car. If you are not sure about getting something sight unseen, then contact them and they will send you samples. They have great customer service. I highly recommend them. Here is again a picture of black Cocomats with gray dot pattern.

Wow - you guys are so good. Ask for info and yee shall receive! I appreciate all of your input. I think I might go with the rubber 2003 design after all with a boot mat to match. I've never had rubber mats so if I don't care for them, I can purchase the cloth and have the rubber ones for our snowy Wisconsin winters. I think what won me over is knowing that, like the cloth, they also have velcro to hold them in place. This is really a great site for dilemmas and decision making!!!

NUMMYTIME,
No matter which you pick, if you are going with factory MINI branded mats, Classic Auto Campus (see the MCO Sponsor Directory at the left) will sell them to you at a substantial discount; as much as 20%, 30% or more off. It is definitely worth giving them a call or shooting them an email before you give the dealer any of your money. They can get you virtually any factory OEM MINI or BMW part, at significant discounts. I will be buying all my OEM MINI accessories and aftersale parts from them.
Cheers,
James

 plus I get to drive the car for 5 more months
I can't control what might happen. By the way on the drivers side the rubber mat has a big velcro on the bottom to keep it from sliding- works great.
When to choose Beige- If you floor carpets are brown or tan or if you seats are the cordoba brown leather then brown can be nice. If you choose to cover your black seats then that would affect the match of the floor mats. There are some nice seat cover options for leather and cloth aftermarket.
One other thing- if you choose something you don't like after trying it then just sell it to another mini owner on marketplace of this site. You get to try it and someone else gets a discount so you can get something that fits your needs better. Even your local mini club should have local buyers for anything mini- we are a bunch of mini nuts.
Hope you enjoy your mini- great car for the right people.
