Yesterday my wife and son joined me for a ride in Alice. When we got back home, my wife made a comment about having to pull the door handle twice to get out. My son said to her "Mom, it's just like a computer, you have to double click to open it." I just thought it was a great term !

MINI ON !

I always thought that that was cool to, that when the doors are locked, that you have to pull it once to unlock it, and pull it the second time to open it, instead of pulling it then pushing the unlocker, then opening it. and that is a great term

of course if you want it to, you can get your dealer to program your doors to automatically unlock on engine-off

Why do you guys put up with this? Why don't you have the doors unlock automatically or simply not lock at all?

I was pretty upset that they programmed the auto lock and did not have the auto unlock after ingition is off. Our dealer in AZ is sending a check for $48 for Long Beach MINI to reprogram.

I had mine programmed not to auto lock, and to unlock with ignition off (in case I locked the doors manually).

I like it, and no explanation needed to everyone to double click to get out. Life is too complicated and too short!

I had Smiley reprogrammed with Linux. So far 128 days without a reboot.

Hey Marty,
you an MG owner?
I used to have a 1973 MGB-GT.
The most fun car I had driven, until I got my MCS!
Cheers,
Markus

Hmmm. sometimes mine auto-unlocks at ignition off and sometimes it unlocks only with a double pull....

I thought it had to do with how the doors were locked (lock with ignition on, auto-unlock at ignition off; lock with toggle, unlock with toggle or double pull), but when I tested it, it didn't follow.

Anybody know?

I don't like the auto lock, but I'm sure I would like even less how much my dealer would charge to reprogram it. Maybe when I go in for the 10k service...

I like the auto lock. Also, since just about everytime I have to get out my MINI I also have to get into the boot, I've gotten used to just using the toggle. But, the double click thing is pretty cool too and doesn't really bother me.

I like the security of being "locked in" until I choose to unlock the doors. I don't want some freak to jump in my car if I turn my car off in a dark parking lot, etc.!

My dealer told me that US spec MINIs can not be programmed for the auto unlock/engine off function. Is this some safety **** b.s. or am I being taken?

That is total BS!!! We had ours done MONTHS ago
 Some dealers do not have the software to do it yet - have your dealer call Sterling MINI -

Chow!
