So on Friday, somebody backed into me while testing their High school parallel parking skillz, which concist of driving as close as humanly possibly to the car before the spot, and parking at a rediculous angle. Usually with the rear sticking into the street about 6 or more inches. Its not difficult to parallel park, although I might be preaching from a High platform(I love the MINI's drivability), anyway, they didn't evan have the b*lls to go tell someone what happened(evenyone at my school is rich, and fixing this the right way wouldnt even dent their pocket book) so I realize this. I use my totally amazing detail experience, and remove the scuffs, and scratches, but there is still an area where they stole a bit of my paint.

So I get to seriously doubting the practicalltiy of driving a car universally hated my manly men. Every guy at my school is a manly man, and drives their FORD f-850 with a 14 litre engine. And now I am considering fixing all the cosmetic problems and selling the party bus. Dont get me wrong, I love him, and I dont have a problem with payments, thats not even an issue, but If I had a little more low-profile car, I could avoid a lot of this car getting hated on. But every time I think about selling the bus, I set foot in the car, and all my wants to sell, are instantly gone.... I want to keep him, but mabey I should sell the Party bus, and buy a VW with no payment, save then when I get out of school, but back a first gen with low miles. Im confused, help.:impatient

getting backed into doesnt sound like a hate issue.. Everyone at my school loves the mini (minus the staff) and boerne is a huggee "if you dont drive a 4 X 4 you wont like me" type of place... it is a target for random shoepolish vandalism though >__<

High schools are unfriendly for ANY car, truck, or tank. Young drivers can destroy anything.

You think that is bad? Back when in was in high school, my car got vandalized a couple times by a**holes. No one ever had the ***** to say anything to my face, but I brushed it off and I kept my head up high. Eventually they stopped. People are jealous because you have something that they cannot readily get.

You think that sucks? Try having a fish put in your car.

ya, I typically have my car on a lift in autotech or atleast parked in there

but highschool is unfriendly to minis, expecially red ones

I think its time for a non-people friendly alarm involving lots of electricity and fire

Sounds like a fun school...not...

OKfrom a girl who didn't fit in and got picked on constantly I say do what makes you happy. If the car makes you happy then keep it. Is it possible to ride the bus? I know it sucks and I'm sure the idiots in your school will make fun of that as well but hey, at least your car is safe.

I often battled with the same issue when it came to my looks. I tried coloring my hair and dressing normal so I would fit in, just like if you sold your car. But you know what? All it did is make me depressed and miss being creative. So I colored my hair back to rediculous parts of the rainbow and called it a day. Beleive me it was no picnic but I was much happier on the inside knowing these people weren't worth my time then giving in and succumbing to their childish issues.
I say keep it...

how good is your insurance?

Yea, don't sell your car. Just toughen up, drive a different car or anything else but you will always be disappointed if you sell it.

Sorry to hear about all of your High school vehicle problems. I actually had the opposite at my school. I went the the "snobby" school where there were the typical Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and the occasional Lotus. I had one of the less expensive cars there. I had an IROC convertable that was modded.

It sucks, but it aint worth selling. I managed quite the touch up job myself after being keyed from behind the gas cap straight through to the headlamp; however when the dealer washed my car before I had the chance to speak up; they ended up removing the touch up paint and I haven't matched the perfection I had the first time since, so for almost a year I've been driving around with a battle scar, if anything its kept reeats of the same acts from happening; and I probably won't be happy with the paint quality until I get the panels removed and resprayed; but thats not happening anytime soon.

The car is about driving not status or looks our clout. If you are happy driving a MINI, then don't worry about the rest, there are those who will hate you for it and thats their loss. I think Emily got this one right, don't conform be yourself.

so now I never do it they give me way to much freedom at my school to be honest.

In my high school experiance that would lead to other rumors far worse than a little paint exchange

You'll have the same problems with any car.

Or you could do something almost everyone of my generation did: ride a road-bike to school. Maybe 100 kids (about 600 Jr's and Sr's) had cars when I was in HS. The rest of us walked, rode bikes, and stayed in pretty good shape. Save the Mini for better things.

idk where he lives... but 30 min of hills twistes small bridges, and frequent stops would be a nightmare on a bike every morning. I have a hard time getting to school on time in the first place ^__^ I did that to elementry school and middle school though -thumbsup-

Nope. Sacramento, CA. No snow (hardly ever).

My wife any I have both noticed that high schoolers today would rather die, then ride a bike to school.

Ive only ever skipped one class, and my friend said I was in the bathroom, and the teacher was dumb enough to believe him, and we do it for eachother whenever we skip that class. The other day 2 of my friends were gone, I figured them skipping, and said they were here, later to find out one was suspended, and one was skiing, and excused for the whole day.
