To be honest, I did remember something that might make a difference. When I was in HS, we had lockers for everything, and didn't need backpacks.

Last time I drove past my old HS, all the lockers had been removed. Yeah, I'd hate to have to bike to school with all my crap on my back.

 

I would have ridden my bike to school in HS if it wasn't 20 miles away and I didn't have to ride back in the afternoon. I had crew practice everyday, and I often could barely walk after practice! Getting to the docks also added another 5 miles.

As for lockers, we had them, but we used bookbags too. Did you ever lock your lockers? We had an honor code and theft was pretty much unheard of. The school was also tiny, though.

 

Keep the car, screw what anyone else thinks... Buy a paintball gun and keep it in the car.. then they'll know wassup... j/p lol

get to school earlier and find better parking.. a lot of times i found myself parking in a patch of grass all by myself right in front lol.. never got any dings/scratches on it.. not because i was hated on, but b/c i was too lazy to walk from the end of the parking lot to school... haha

Riding a bike is pretty uncool now a days, if you can drive you pretty much do it.

I'm pretty much obsessed. My college doesn't have a team but when I'm home for the summer I row and coach some with the local club, which is associated with the school. It's the best sport in the world, with the best people! Not that I'm biased or anything.

 

this is pretty crazy listening to everyone's bad times at school. i just graduated this year, with my mini, in a class of sixty. everyone knew not to mess with the cars because such a small amount of students drove it would be easy to find the person who messed with the car. i drove my dads truck to school for the first half of my senior year and it was egged as a joke. we all knew who it was because he was the only one absent that would do something like that.
thats my story, no advice except if the payments aren't a problem then get a second beater car

 

We would joke around with people's cars, but never anything intentionally harmful. My S10 did get bumped accidentally, but we worked it out.

 

My senior class was around 350. School total was about 1200. Any number of mischief makers.

 

Not sure how much school is left but I would bet that a red MINI sticks out and is just calling for trouble. You should have saved red for after school and got a bare bones silver or BRG that blends in a little more. Then maybe the MINI could get along with the other beasts a little better.

 

I really don't think the color matters. You could have a camo car and your classmates will still be horrible drivers.

 

Horrible drivers maybe but at least there is a chance of avoiding the can of soda poored over the car.

 

Maybe I'm delusional, but I just can't see the color difference helping. Nor the car model, either.

yeah i drive a red mini, and no one seems to ***** with my car at my HS. Then again i park in the farthest spot possible so people just dont care to walk out that far maybe. also people know my car is almost my life, and that thats one thing they dont even want to mess with me with.

as to youre predicamanet flannel, personally i say think rationally, but also think about what you want man. you know like id suggest test driving the dub youre looking at, i mean if you really enjoy driving that too, or dislike the vw but the lack of payments makes it better still go for it, but if it just sucks then clearly it wasnt meant to be. Also if you need the cash desperately id reccomend selling the MINI to. personally im on a different but similar traveling boat, where i want to sell my MINI becuase i just cnat take having such a nice car at 17. i mean it didnt bother me when i got the car but, lately it has been, and im really not sure i can hold on much longer, but i do love driving the car, and the car itself. personally im particularly interested in what you do. my major reasonw hy i havent sold mine either than the fact i love everything about it ecept how nice it is is my dad. My dad was really against me selling my accord for a MINI, but i finally got him to cave, and i know if i sold my MINI hed freak out on me, and give me sh*t about how he shouldnt have let me get the cash out of my account to go for the MINI.

infact this (my junior) year has freakin blown so far, but friday i blew up at all the kids at this party and stormed out, and in the oddest way where i expected the next day for people to call me and be p!ssed at me, i f'in got calls back of people who were, i guess respecting of the fact i had the ***** to tell tehm all there a$$'s, odd world, i dont know, im just saying sometimes things you wouldnt expect to work can make a difference, i dont know what difference i made, if it was a good diff or what, but i can tell i didnt make a bad difference, at the least itll be equal to how bad it was before

BTW- bad is just uneventful, and kind of woman less so far, that what made me blow up friday, i was turned down by a couple of girls who i know, who theyve given me signals and ive signaled back,a nd i dont mind beng turned down but at least give me some like pity in the turn down, when theres liek blunt turn downs, well whatev, it really angered me at the time, sorry for the rant, im still steamed over htough 3 days later

 

I owned my first Mini my Junior year of High School a 2002 British Racing Green. People hated the car and would often call it "gay" and other negative terms. Some kid broke out my windows on my mini with a bat. So me being the justice loving person I beat the $h&t out of him. No one ever touched the Mini again. Im not premoting violence, but it worked for me. =P

 

What works, works. Even us older guys get a little lack of respect because of driving a Mini. Some kid pulled out of a parking spot without looking, and almost hit me. I laid on the horn, and he flipped me off. He got stopped at the next aisle by traffic. I was still behind him. He flipped me off again. I got out of the car. I'm 6'7", 280, ex-miliary. The brat saw this, saw an opening, laid rubber with his tail between his legs, punk that he was. Sometime a little visual shock can work wonders.

Personally I think the girls would be digging a guy that drives a cool car rather than those hickster monster trucks... oh well, to each his own. Stick with the MINI; just be careful where and how you park. Good luck!

 

OMG! This is like me! Same thing with the other cars, and I was driving a Camaro Z28. And all the snobs were like, "Oh...my...god.....She's driving a CAMARO? What a piece of trash! "

Then, my senior year, we moved to another state, in a real hick town (no offense to the hicks out there), and I got, "Well, who the h*ll does she think she is drivin' up in her fancy there Camara? 'putt...ding'"

I had stuff done to my car at both schools. And I realized it wasn't the car they hated, it was me they hated.

What year are you in high school? Junior? Senior? If you're a senior, I say celebrate your individuality - continue to drive the car to school, and REPORT THE PERSON WHO SWIPED YOUR CAR!!!!!! They ruined your paint and they are liable! If you're a junior, leave the car at home and take the bus.

Believe me, dude. I know high school ain't easy. The beauty of high school though is that it ENDS. When you get the car to a university if you are going on to college, you will love having the car with you. You don't have to get rid of the car.

 

haha no one makes fun of the mini cause its girly actually. partially cause its beefier and I've owned most ricers, and muscle cars at the school

junior year it got picked on like all the rest of the cars and probably by the seniors. no problem this year, the younger grades typically dont mess with the upperclass I guess.

Now my fishy year when I drove the jeep I got alot of crap being it wasnt lifted and didnt sound like a tractor plowing down a field

as to the girls, most typically wont/cant ride with me do to loud noise and removed backseats =] but its always fun catchin rides to lunch with them ;]

 

Holy Smoley, high school has changed. We were lucky to drive old ford trucks that had to be pushed down the hill to get them to start (love those manual transmissions....) My friend had a "cool" car.... a death trap Pinto....
