Has something changed with the shipping company for auto tracking. My new car has been built for days now and I still get no info on the shipping site. I try to track auto cargo and put in my vin but it is not working.

 

There's a possibility that it went on another shipping line other than Wallenius. If it did, you won't be able to track it.

My car is on K-Line. The ship name is Franconia. Supposed to be in Charleston on the 26th.

 

Our car is also on the Franconia. Josh at MINI of Nashville told me the 29th was more likely. Who are you dealing with?

Hotelcalif, looks like we are in the same boat, so to speak...or I guess literaly. I was really looking forward to checking that map every morning and seeing where my little dot was...but I guess it aint going to happen with a "K" Line ship. Are you involved with SMMC in Knoxville? Once our car gets here, I was thinking about going to some of their meetings. BTW: Do you have any idea why GraysonBMW doesn't sell MINIs here in Knoxville. I have a friend who swears there were some on their lot a couple of years ago.

 

Yes a big part of SMMC. Was one of the founders so to speak and first year prez with wife being second year prez.
Grayson has Minis every now and then but they are not a Mini dealer. I don't know this to be 100% true but someone told me when dealers were being handed out they were not in the best of standings with BMW NA. I have worked in dealers all my working life and nothing would make me happier than to be a MA at a Mini dealer but if it were Grayson there is pretty much no way I would work there. In the words of Forest Gump , that is all I have to say about that.

 

Once you know the name of th ship, you can go here to track it when it is near a port, leaving or arriving. It doesn't have mid-ocean coverage.

This Friday? Josh told me that our ships arrival date keeps changing from the 26th to the 29th and then back...but that still won't get it through the VDC by then will it?

btw: Thanks for the unsubstantiated rumor surrounding our friendly neighborhood BMW dealership. I think I understand...but, it sure would set my mind at ease knowing I had a dealership closer than Nashville. That is the biggest worry I have about the MINI...which I would love to see this weekend. But, I'm not holding my breadth on that.

Only about half of all Mini's go by WW. If your Mini doesn't go by WW, then you can't use that tracking feature.

This is MINI #7 for us and the long distance has never really been a big problem. For the most part these cars do pretty good and you may never even have a warranty issue. In a non driveable issue Mini will pay for the haul to NAshville but you will have to get someone to take you over to pick your car up. I had my car worked on once and caught the Nashville airport shuttle to go pick it up. The driver even took me to MON after dropping off his airport customers.
