Noticed by a Corvette

I was on my way home yesterday and got smiles and a wave from a couple guys in a Corvette! Really surprised me--I've had my '06 MCS for about 2 1/2 months, and haven't gotten waves (except by other MINIs).

It made my day!!

Maybe it was me, since currently I am still driving my Corvette around until my Mini arrives in America.

When I had my C5 Vette(2001) I always waved to MINI's before I squashed them Actually, with just over 2 yrs in my '05MCS I have not missed my Vette. I still wave to Vettes.

Car guys (girls) wave to car guys. But EVERYBODY waves at the MINI!

Car enthusiasts appreciate other interesting cars. I get lots of looks and smiles from motorcyclists as well.

As do I! The chrome on black on black, with the MINI's styling, reminds me a lot of a motorcycle, actually!

hehe. That's pretty cool. That's what the joy of "motoring" really is... So far, (4+ years of owning the MINI) I've been waved/thumbs up'd from a S2000, Honda Si's (plural, lol), VW Golfs, and once by a police car...

Check it out, might want to share your story here...

Linky.

Take care,
Leo.

I still get a 'chuckle' out of people who ask (at a red light yesterday)
"What kind of car is THAT??"

Earlier this year on one of the legs of our Mountain Tour Part 1, as all of our cute MINIs we were leaving a parking area, a Corvette club pulled in. It was a big wave-fest with mutual admiration on both sides!

The very 1st day I had my Mini, it was January 1st & it happened to be 75 degrees & I had the top down. I was driving over to show it off to my family & a cherry red vette pulled up beside me at a redlight, rolled down his window, & said "wow that is a really beautiful car"

Also on my way home from the Dragon in May a Miata with his top down pulled in front of me & lifted his arms up & gave me the 2 thumbs up sign.

I recently noticed a guy and girl in a Ferari coming down the road in the opposite direction of me... he had is eyes straight forward, intensely ignoring me while she almost broke her neck crooning at the MINI. Or was it me? lol.
I'll never know. ;-)
And last week at work, one of my coworkers asked, "Okay who makes that car?" He seemed surprised by my, "It's made in England by MINI and BMW is the parent company."

I'm going to commit that phrase to memory...my conversations usually go like this:
MINI Faciniated Person (MFP): What kind of car is that?
Me: It's a MINI Cooper
MFP: Who makes it?
Me: MINI
MFP: Who?
Me: MINI!
MFP: Yes, but who makes it?
Me: (sigh) It's made by BMW.
MFP: Third Base

I ride a bike too, and bikes almost always wave at each other, so I didn't notice it at first, but I do get a fair number of nods, thumbs up, and waves from bikes.

When I first got my car there weren't that many around to wave too and get waves from ... but I did get waves and nods from every type of car.... Porsche's, Ferrari's, even a Labo (once) - I had a Surburban pull up along side me at Lake Tahoe, when the windows rolled down it was SWAT team! They were all hanging out and asking questions in stop-and-go traffic. I've also driven down a street FULL of Harley's and got so many 'thumbs-up', smiles and nods I thought I was in a parade! I was driving by a school bus and evey kid had to look out the window at my car, and the driver gave me a wave and a honk!
Great Car!

I thought I was alone here. The Ferrari was on a redlight and the guy watch me passing by. But happens with a lot of expensive cars. Also 2 police cars and traffic police men, walking and in bikes.

Can't count the "normal" cars. I still get a lot of attention from children with their parents pointing at the MINI.

Priceless

A car that spreads joy

Parking lots. Once a week or more since I took delivery (Nov '03) I'm in a parking lot, and some perfect stranger will take the time to stop me and either ask about the car, mention that they have been lusting after one, or just throw a genuinely nice compliment at me (about the car ). It's the only car I've had that seems to have an aura of delight about it. And it seems that all types of people are affected positively.

I was filling up with gas one day and the car in front of me was a late model Porsche Carrera. When the guy came out of the pay area he started chatting about the MINI.
He was all over it as I gassed up and asked a ton of questions. He complimented me on my car (as I did his) and went on his way.

As someone said earlier car people are car people no matter what.
