Steering wheel shake

Our '03 MCS has a shimmy/shake in the steering wheel from around 20mph to 50mph. the shake varies in intensity, never is it real bad, but it is definitely there. I had new tires put on, balanced and aligned. While this reduced the issue it did not eliminate it. My theory is a rim may be warped or out of whack. If it's not that, what else could it be. Any ideas?

Do you have stock wheels?

Hubcentric rings are a must if not.

Yep, that is exactly what my car is doing. But nothing seems to work on the problem. I'll check the air pressure and see if that does the trick. If not I'll have to take it to the dealer (110 miles away). I have the stock rims.

You could have a bent wheel rim or something else may be damaged in the suspension.

Have you hit any huge potholes?

Have a local tire shop balance your wheels, methinks one may be unbalanced, giving you the shimmy. Remember to retorque to 90 lb.ft

best would be to swap the wheels/tires with your spare if you have
a set and compare.

otherwise, i would put the front ones on the rear and see if that
helps. if yes, your front needs to be rebalanced.

My vote is bad wheel hub on front drivers side. Second vote bad hub on passenger side. Was probably okay until you took weight of car off the hub to change tire/wheels. ie failed like a water pump after belt tension is removed... you get the idea... Can probably make the symptoms go away for a while but ultimately there is a bad part in the front end, hub, tie rod etc. Especially if more than 50k miles on the car.
