Bad day for the Mini!
Wow. Today really sucked for the Mini. The wife and I decided to adopt a dog today. So after visiting the first shelter we came out to the dreaded cracked windshield. Oh, well, the car is six months old. I am surprised it lasted this long, right? So we carry on with the mission of finding the perfect pet. Remembering that Petco has pet adoptions on Saturdays we drive over and go inside. Of course the adoption people are not there. But we do walk out to a freshly keyed Mini. Arghhhh!
And this a person that owns pets that did that. There are no other stores that share that lot. WFT!!! How can someone be such a scumbag? I hope the karma comes around and bites them in the *** tenfold.

So sorry to hear it, aside from the damage to the car it is always so disturbing and depressing to encounter such a horrible side to people :(
Regarding the pets, good for you for wanting to adopt! I found a great dog through Petfinder.com. The rescue people really do a great job of matching up the right animals and people. Best of luck with that and the car - take care (and we want to see pics of the new buddy when you get 'em
)
PS: I know the rescue/petfinder way maynot be as fast as going to a shelter or whatnot, but it really is awesome how they foster and get to know the dogs before adopting them out. I found a ton of places via Petfinder and just web searches when I was looking.

Oh man that's awful. :(
I second the praise for adopting a dog. Both of mine are rescues, and they're the best dogs I've ever had. We got them from humane societies in the area, that we found on petfinder.com. Good luck!

I feel your pain, anger and frustration. What would lead a person to do that....especially with no provocation?
Many applauds to the both of you on the adoption. So many pets out there are in need of a good home. I'm glad to see one will get one with you.

Thanks for the support. I checked with the Petco "employees". The words camera and surveillance confused them to no end. It was like asking for a change for a dollar.
eVal, thanks for the tip, we will look into that. Currently we have two cats who are rescues. Two of the most needy, lovable PIAs you could ever imagine. We had to put down our dog of 12 years about 3 months ago, so now we are in the process of finding the "successor". We actually found the candidate today, but she is not available till Monday. And people at the shelter seem to think that she will be popular enough to warrant a lottery. So, keeping our fingers crossed.

Jerry - I feel your pain...and I'm so sorry - I just don't understand why people do this crap to other people's cars.
When my Cabrio was just a month old, some punk keyed the entire drivers side - including the black trim around the wheel well...urgggg....$3K later and a week at the shop, she was good as new (thank goodness for insurance).. I sure hope yours is back to new soon...

Wow! I can't believe someone could do that. Why?! Is it a true hatred of MINIs? This isn't the first I've heard of this strange phenomenon. I almost expect the same to happen to me when I go grocery shopping!

Well, the anger has worn off some. Nothing a little paint won't fix. Just wish I cought the little bastard in the act. I guess some of the other mods will have to wait.
We should know about the pup tomorrow. If not, the search continues.
