Not sure exactly what you're talking about however....

if you press then I think you'll find that its the horn.

Or if you're talking about actuall protrusions on the rear of the spokes for an MCSa (not sure about MCa) they are gear selectors.

I realized it the first time I grabbed it. Just like my old drivers ed. teacher used to say keep your hands at 2 & 10. It does make the wheel a little more comfortable.

I'm so glad I got one of the early versions of the 2-spoke that doesn't have these annoying bumps. . . .

I hate those protrusions, hands belong at 9 and 3 for optuimum control, 10 and 2 puts you in a defensive, mode which can have its benifits, but its just not for me.

Now the pictures of the bugles on my steering wheel, if its not the horn, than should I be getting that loud noise everytime I hit them?

On my August build '03 the "sport" steering wheel with the bumps was a no-cost option over the normal two-spoke wheel. I didn't opt for it.

The bumps are meant to give your thumb something to "catch" when your hands are at 9 and 3 - the best track and sport driving position.

Put your hands at 9 and 3 - notice how your thumb sits below the bump and when you turn to the right your left thumb pushes against the bottom of that bump.

OK, if I hold the wheel at 3 & 9, the spokes prevent me from wrapping more than 1 finger each side around the wheel. Is the wheel wrong, or should I not be trying to wrap my fingers around? I do see the merit of 3 & 9, though, having tried it, I just feel like the spokes are in the wrong place or too big.
