Ok, so my MINI arrived at the port on August 17th

However, I am concerned because it appears to have not shipped out yet (according to the cargo ship site when you enter your VIN) and other fellow production week 33ers ,who's cars arrived at the port LATER than me, have gotten on a ship! They have entered their VIN # on that site and it tells them what ship they are on etc...

So my question is, WHY is this?! And should I be concerned?! I mean, it doesn't make much sense to me that cars arriving after me get on the ship before me, especially since one of them is headed to the SAME CITY as me (Houston)... I initally thought it might be a geographic thing, but that kind of blew that theory away...

I'm afraid it's been damaged or something... I know I read stuff about that they don't have to disclose any damage before delivery or something like that...

Anyone else think this is strange?!

 

You can't always go off that. Mine was on the WW ship, off the ship, on the ship, then sitting there according to the site. Come to find out, they gave it to K-Line and it was in the mid-atlantic.

As far as damage, anything over 3% of the value of the car and they have to disclose it to you.

I won't worry it..just yet!

 

Thanks for the reply... I guess that could happen... I talked to my MA finally and he said he doesn't really know why, but there is also no set 'order' vehicles are loaded. So it appears I just missed the one leaving the 18th. However, it's still weird I didn't get on the one that left yesterday since I would presume they would load the cars bound for Charleston first (since they get off last) and then the New York cars, and since some of the people that arrived at the port later than me were going to Charleston, it just doesn't make sense why my car didn't make it on and theirs did!

It's not a huge deal I guess, it's just the fact that it has to sit outside at the port for over two weeks now since the next boat doesn't leave until the 30th...

I really don't think you need to be too worried. You mentioned that your car is being shipped to Houston, and I've heard that the shipping companies that ship to the West Coast uses aren't always trackable. At least not as trackable as the East Coast shipping companies. There aren't as many East Coast ships leaving Southhampton either so it could be feasable that your mini might sit at the dock for a week or two. Then it will magically show up at the VDC a few weeks later. I'm sure your mini..you'll be motoring in no time

Well, It is supposed to be shipping into Charleston. But the weird thing is that it was skipped over for the boat leaving 8/18 and then 8/22, but other cars that arrived at the port got on, lol... That was my main concern... why was mine skipped over if it had been there longer?! Just seems weird... Here's hoping it at least gets on the 8/29 ship

 

Well, the ASK MINI automated message has updated to in transit, which is good news, but I don't know where it is, lol... Does anyone know if there is another shipping line other than WW that ships to Charleston since my VIN doesn't show up on any of those boats...

 

You may be better off to check the threads in the 1st gear section. There are COUNTLESS threads on tracking the shipping of your mini. As was said above there are several transit companies. Good luck!

 

Well Mini-Mine,

I am also going to Houston and not on a ship that I can find. Was completed on the 16th. Called ASK Mini and the automated message states in transit. So I would think, if you find yours you will also find mine.

We must be on the same boat then, haha... Mine was completed the 16th too. So sounds like we are buddies on the 'ghost ship'. Thanks for letting me know. It's nice to know I'm not alone! Maybe it's a Houston thing!?
