Had first service done today

03 MCS here... last week the passenger window stopped working and from day one we've had the loud rattles in the hatch.

First thing, they pulled the records on the car and it was owned by someone locally. They said they "knew" the car since I guess the guy was good about bringing it in for maintenance. Made me feel better about buying used.

They said the window was "jammed" and that it's a fairly common problem
They did not replace the motor, but something else relating to it. My wife took the car in so I'm not 100% sure what was said.

They also replaced the rear latch "striker" which they said used to be thin metal but is now a thicker metal. Whatever, it doesn't rattle anymore and that's all that matters to me.

They told her also that before we turn the engine off we should always turn the AC off (which I always do anyway) as well as the radio I don't know why...

But the best part was that they washed it and vacuumed it out afterwards which was a really nice touch. Great service from Ferman Mini in Clearwater, FL.

I turn the AC off because when starting the engine it's just an extra drain on the battery immediately when it's got to start the car AND power the full-blast AC you forgot to turn off That's what I believe anyway. The radio thing makes no sense though...

Many people love this but I have a huge colored sign that I tape to the dash before service saying "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR" with accompanying photos for the illiterate.

I spend so much time detailing my car - washing it almost every week and making sure that the shine is just perfect - that I REALLY don't want some apprentice garage rat with a hose and bucket grinding road dirt into the finish and giving me new swirl marks to deal with.

I am honored that they offer this - it is a nice thing - but sometimes one needs to turn away kindness ....

Bill

Understand your point of view =)

In this case, I washed it really good on Saturday only to have it rain like The End Times the last two nights. So I'll take the free wash this time.

Um, maybe it's because I have the auto AC but it takes it about 5 seconds to come on after I turn on the car....so it's not a drain on the car at all.

Replace Window Motors

They should have replaced the window motors. Eventually, they fail.

In Italy they do not turn on their head lights because they think it will wear down the battery.

No really!
