Piano Black Dash Pictures

Here are a few photos of the piano black dash/interior surfaces (door casing oval) in my new MINI. The pictures really don't do it justice, but I know people have been wanting to see some real life photos of it. I'll try to get some better pictures in the next couple days.

EDIT : UPDATED WITH NEWER IMAGE

Geez Louise, Dave! That is an awesome dash!
Are those circles anywhere else? I like them.

I see you have a parcel shelf. Did you put it in or order it that way?

That looks so nice! (See, you started something here...)
Especially with the chromeline interior!

Did your car still come delivered with the airbag warning sticker across the dash panel?

No, they only appear on the passenger airbag panel

I put it in the second day I had the car. It was the first mod I purchased for it.

I totally agree. The glossy black finish with the chromeline interior looks fantastic in person.

No. It's coming without the sticker from the factory. I actually thanked my dealer for removing it prior to delivery, and they said that both of the piano black dash MINIs they had seen so far did not have the airbag sticker when they received it.

I think that MINIUSA should hire you to do all their photography... Your pictures make that dash look SOOO nice

Beautiful. I think it would go especially well with a ... say ... Jet Black MCSC. Hmmmm.

But tell me, is the dash painted black or is it a black chrome?

Looks REALLY good.

Can you get the black dash without those silly little circles?

I don't think so, and they do look silly and doesn't make much sense to me. But that black dash is sooo nice.

I agree ... that does looks sweet.

I have seen the piano black on another car here, that had lighter interior bits and it looked awful. I think the best thing is if ordering the piano black is to keep the darkest possible theme throughout the interior.

For example light grey door and seats, with that piano black door trim, looks horrendous.

i dont like the circles...! if they would just make a JB/JB/JB/JB/JB interior i would be in heaven. then again i could just paint the red circles to match...

Good eyes. Yes, it does.

I would definitely recommend the two in combination.

Painted

No. And the circles are painted too, they aren't a decal.

Hey, I like those circles!
To me, they go along with the circles throughout the cockpit. Look at the first two photos and maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.

Come on, scroll to those pics.

Look . . . right there.

See? Look . . . the circles on the steering wheel. Yeah, those! Let your eye move over to the speedo area. See . . . more circles!

Keep your eye tracking. Now there are the circles you don't seem to like.
Continue. Hey, there's another circle! (disguised as a vent)

If you let your eyes wander downward, you might notice a speaker. Surprise! Another circle!

Oh well, it's obvious I'm not preaching to the choir. No matter, I'm sticking to my assessment of those blasted circles.

If ONLY the MINI site had better pics.

I didn't know the black came with Anthracite elsewhere. Such a bonus. Mine is on its way with the Piano Black, anthracite headliner ... looking at your pictures, I wish I had gotten chromeline!

looks great dude

Is there a known story behind the circles? Do they represent something or date back to the classic mini? Or are they just a styling cue that they added?

Looks great!

Good to see another paino black interior out there!

Just a note, for the chrome haters, the standard trim is anthracite.

And the best part of that, the tach is also anthracite.
I noticed that that regular anthracite option trim has the tach in silver.

I hate to quote Miss Hilton, but that's hot. I was struggling between the piano black and anthracite, but it looks way better in those pics than the mini website. I thought the circles were kinda corny before, but I like the circles now. They help break up that one big panel, it'd be too much solid black in one area without em. The dash would look unbalanced if they weren't there. That is one dangerously sexy dash.

ravenfish, do you have a photo of the tach trim in anthracite? If it comes that way from the factory, then it should be possible to order the replacement part separately. This offers hope for those of us who have the standard anthracite trim option. I had previously looked at the MINI Seven Edition on Euro MINI sites, and found conflicting images about whether the black dash comes with silver or anthracite tach ring.
