Carpet or Rubber Floor mats?

Sorry if this is repost... could not find any others though..

I am picking up my MCS today & I still cannot decide which floor mats to get.

The CARPET looks better to me, but I do not want it to stain or wear down.

The RUBBER looks 'cheaper' but is more durable, easy to clean, and sports the MCS logo.

Anybody got advice? --> (BTW: I'm in AZ where there is never snow or rain.)

Definately a personal preference but I opted for the rubber ones and am glad that I did. They don't look cheap at all and do a great job. Also, they are much easier to clean and keep clean.

I also had the same concerns as you before I got my MCSa but I ended up getting the rubber mats and have not regretted it one bit. They don't look cheap and I love how you can just hose them down and they look brand new again.

Another vote for the rubber mats. They are very attractive and don't look cheap to me, either. I've been using mine since 2002 (moved them from MINI #1 to MINI #2), and when cleaned, they look new! I also have the rubber mat for the boot, plus the extension, which goes on the back of the rear seats when they are in the folded-down position, to protect the seatbacks. Very sporty, too!

RUBBER!

Plus, in the winter, they're much easier to clean, especially if you get snow, slush and salted roads where you live. I don't think they look cheap either, at least the ones that come with MINI's.

I have rubber mats now and they've been great! So easy to clean and the carpets underneath stay practically brand new looking. I'm currently thinking of switching. Those JCW checkered floor mats do look oh so pretty!

You said "...I'm in AZ where there is never snow or Rain."
That being said you do however have dirt and sand. Which still has to be cleaned.
Rubber Mat =(Cheap) Wash+Dry (10 minutes tops)
Carpet Mat =(Not Cheap) Vacuum+Wash+Scrub+Rinse+Dry (Time depends on Skill/Materials/Effort)

If you were driving a 5,6, or 7 series I could see why you were troubled, but this car is ment to be driven and have fun. No worries with the rubber mat.
They're "GOOD TO GO!"

Since you don't live in the snow belt, I would go for the carpeted mats. I have the rubber ones myself but my loaner car had the carpeted mats. The quality on the carpeted mats looks very good. The fibers are tightly bunched so vacuuming would be a piece of cake.

I bought my car used and had both...I'm using the carpet this summer and plan to use the rubber ones in the winter. If they carpet ones wear out...so what? I can buy new ones....and they look much better IMO

Do what I did - buy the JCW carpet mats (the checkered flag mats) and keep them UNDER the rubber mats. When I want to show off the car I throw the rubber mats in the boot temporarily.

However, I have gotten more compliments on the rubber mats than the JCW mats to date - and they are bulletproof in protecting your car from the crud you drag in.

Rubber - all it took was one spilled latte and one puking dog to realize I made the right choice.

I have both sets and the rubber mats are the choice for me. The carpet mats will go in when I sell the "Roller Skate"!

I have the rubber mats, but opted for the Canadian 'large circles' version just to be a little different.

I got the rubber mats for my MCS at the dealership, but sold them and paid out the nose for the uber-cool Canadian rubber mats, which feature the circular raised pattern, which...are awesome.

Mine has carpets. it just depends on what youre used to and how you keep your cars. I cant really speak for my passengers, but I hardly step in mud or dirt to dirty up the carpets. For anything like that, we usually drive my wife's car

I think that's the European version too, since it's what my car had.

I have the rubber ones, because I also live in Arizona where, I humbly beg to differ with you, it does in fact rain and snow. At least it does outside the giant heat bubble that is Phoenix

RUBBER!!!
I work at a dealership & 9 out of 10 mats sold are rubber. They wear much better than carpet from our experience.
