invisishield

I am about to take delivery of my new Mini. The Mini website shows the invisishield clear bra as a dealer installed option. I have been quoted $435 installed at Dreyer-Reinbold in Indianapolis. Does anyone have experience with this kit, or should I look elsewhwhere?

That is a good price from the quotes I'm gotten. MINI of St. Louis told me $650 but locally I can get for $450.

Looking at other comments from NAM make sure you get the thickest 3m you can, 8mm vice 4mm. That is what i'm going to ask for too.

8mm thick 3m?? That's pretty thick...like almost 1/3 of an inch. That's gotta be pretty visible....

When I asked about the clear bra, my dealer said they don't do it anymore b/c the techs complain it's too much of a PITA . So instead they have a installer come by to do it.

They do they same thing with windshields! I was working and watching a person from "Mels Glass" come in and work on a MINI. Pretty extensive work and very interesting!

$435 is a great price. At Herb Chambers in Boston, it's $695! I can get $100 off b/c I'm also doing Lojack (they have the same outside company to do both), but still...I'd _love_ to hear $435!

For those in Boston, I know it's a bit cheaper at Peabody, but what about any dings I might get on my way up to Peabody? Not that I'm just the slightest bit overprotective of my MINI...

I got the clear bar for the bonnet as well as for the entire bumper, arches, and near the wheel wells and it was close to $1300.

It really is worth it! Plus my paint job is not insured, so I'm taking all precautions to preserve the paint job.

My husband had a pretty bad rock hit his bonnet and had to have the whole bonnet hood re-painted a fixed, then have his stripes re-aplied. It's worth the invesment!!!!

It sounds like the consensus is to get the invisishield. By the way I was quoted $495 for the hood and bumper kit from Ziebart in Indpls. I assume you may be able to get that price across the country.

That sounds like a good price once you figure in the labor. I got mine cheaper since i'm dating the installers daughter . Definately worth the money though.

Anyone know where a person can get the 3M kits? I know Moss Mini sells one. My dealer wants $695 to have a vendor do it. Moss Mini sells a kit for 279.95 for the S package (Hood/Bummer). Pretty deep DIY streak going and I have a heat gun so I think the hood contours can be over come. Would like to get the 8M or better kit preferably at a lower cost then Moss' kit.

I got my MINI from Dreyer-Reinbold because they gave me the lowest quote on the Invisishield, something on par with the quote you got. And I haven't regretted it for an instant! I did a Brit car show the other weekend and mine was pretty much the only MINI without front end stone chips.

And Dreyer-Reinbold did a fabulous job on the install.
So fabulous, in fact, that they showed it off. I was sitting at an MA's desk on delivery day, and when I turned around, there my car was out front...with 5 or 6 people clustered around it, touching it. !! I had no idea who these people were, or why they were touching my car, especially since Giles and I had yet to be introduced, so I got a bit upset. That's when I found out they tried a new 3M clear bra on my car and the tech was so thrilled with the job he did (he said it was his best install ever) that he called his boss and the other MINI people out to look at it!

And I guess I have to agree with them. I've seen a few other clear bras, and mine has looked the best so far. The seams are nearly invisible, and they were totally thorough, so thorough that even each slat of the front grill has it's own covering. They did good!

I hear that if you ever need to replace bonnet stripes (a hazard with the relatively cheap OEM decals) that doing so will necessitate removing and replacing the Invisisheild as well... True?
