Well, figure a new one with those options cost over 22 or 23k so probably a fair price, but check with some of the auto sights like autobytel before you buy. Also call your bank and ask what they say it's worth.

Welcome to MCO by the way.

Thanks!

The loan value (even including taxes) shows that I'm in good shape.

Fully pimped-out like it is with the dealer accesories, the sticker was about $24,500. That was in August of last year (it's an '02).

I would be buying it used from an individual.

Make sure to have a mechanic check it out if you are not mechanically inclined. Should be okay with that low miliage but you never know.

Always good advice (but in my case I am a pretty darn good shade tree mechanic )

Inspect it thoroughly for previous accident damage.

The "add-ons" were official MINI accesories and were installed by the dealer, so there aren't any known issues.

CarFax came back clean.

I used to work @ a dealership, so I am pretty good @ spotting previous damage, overspray, etc. I couldn't find any.

Were there any cahnges between '02 & '03 model years?

The biggest change is that you now get an extra remote key with the 2003's. Plus a few other things like its prewired for an alarm system and the radio is MP3 ready.

The 2002 also had an additional power outlet in the boot, the new 2003's do not.

For the same car but in an 03 version, how much does it come out to on miniusa.com's car builder?

OK, I just came up with 22.8 K for that same car in an 2k3 model.

Nearly 4K difference. Is it worth it to you to become the original owner?

Do you really need all the options that car has?

Check out miniusa.com and build it like you'd want it. It might be worth the wait to get exactly the car you want.

For example, removing the 17" wheels and getting the stock wheels lowers the price by 1500 or so. Now it's at 21.2 K Only 2.2 k more than a used MINI.

Here's one last thing to keep in mind. Extra accesories doesn't make a difference in the price on a used car. A fully loaded mini will cost the same in 5 years as a basic one does. And the basic rule is $1 per mile. Whether you choose to purchase the used mini or order one yourself, you'll be very happy with a MINI!

$23,210, not including installation or the run-flat tyres. Figure it was about a $24,500 vehicle new.

I don't "need" them anymore than I "need" another car.

If price were no object, I would pimp a new car out. with pretty much everything this car has... but price is an object.

Not exactly true, as I used to work at dealer.

The book does add for certain things, like larger wheels and CD changers. There won't be any adds for driving lamps and bonnet stripes, most likely. But you never can tell as the vehicle is too new to market to determine what the resale will really be in 5 years and what features future customers will really want.

I get the impression it was an "impulse buy" for them.

She recently lost her job and can no longer afford it.

Just one small thing: no sports seats. I'd not buy if I didn't have these, but then I'm not facing your decision. I waited 4 months for mine. It sounds like a gorgeous ride. I'm sure you can't go wrong.
