Velcro spot on the '06 MCS seat belt?

I'm sitting slingshot in the MCS and fastening the seatbelt
when i notice there are furry spots on the outside of the
buckles of the buckle fastener. Anyone know what they
are for? It's on both Driver and passenger side.

I didn't check back seats.

In case the latch does not work, you can attach it via Velcro.. j/k... It prevents it from hitting the center console and making noise.

I may be mistaken but I think it adds 5hp

See, i was thinking of sticking something awesome there if there was no other purpose. I was thinking along the lines of making a velcro holster for my toothbursh.

Or do you think that would hurt the HP?

I remember a couple years ago when I noticed that stuff. I said to myself "What the heck is that?" and promptly peeled it off.

That's what I thought too

But then it's on both sides. You don't need it on the driver's side since it's buckled in and thus won't bang into the center console. But the MINI is made in both LHD and RHD version so I figured they just slap it on both side and not complicate things.

its to allow mini owners with hairy knuckles to feel comfortable and at home using the seatbelts.

Sorry but it doesn't add horsepower, it just adds weight. I've noticed a 0.00003 mpg increase since removing my velcro seatbelt stickers.
