Provenance of the U-Stripe

I'm working for a writer who is finishing a biography on the French motorsport photographer/journalist Bernard Cahier. Among the hundreds of fantastic photographs in the book, I found this one might be of particular interest to those of us who like the '06 MINI U-stripe. This picture shows actor James Garner, circa 1966, resplendent in his driver's suit and sneakers, standing waist-high to the Mini he purchased for personal use during the filming of John Frankenheimer's Formula 1 tale, Grand Prix.

Can't see the picture.
I just put a Chevron on my bonnet just yesterday, also put to stripes to comple the look on the boot to match.
Cheers

I can see the pic... now I sort of see where the U stripe may have originated.

James Garner owns a new (as in new MINI) MCS! He drove it to supergimp's place of business in Santa Monica several months ago, and they talked MINIs! I think he may have posted a piccie when he told about it earlier this year.

That's cool to hear ol' James still thinks the MINI is a car worthy of ownership. Wonder if we could track down that picture you speak of?

Thanks for posting that picture. He's a good actor & was a pretty fair race car driver. Glad to hear he's still motoring.
