Who is planning to make the May 1-3 MINI Rally? It looks to be a great event. Ryan has been posting some information to try and spark up interest and here is another post of the link:

http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

There seems to be quite a large interest in the event on MINI2. The weather should be great in the mountains that time of year and it would be a great way to meet fellow MCO'ers.

Regards,

I've often wanted to get my MIata out there for the run, but if it's may1-2 I "may" bring out the ole MCS instead.

If anybody could think of a way to try and coordinate meeting places/times to allow MINI's to drive together to the event that would be great. Ryan, you do an incredible job with CWFAC, any ideas?

I'm interested in motoring over with any others from Charlotte or there about. We should be able to come up with a pretty sweet route.

Hello Dragonites
I'll be there for sure, but don't have anyone to drive down with yet

Cheers,

That is a cool map. I want to know how a straight-away got named "Cooper" versus a twisty.

Ry -

Still working on approval for the excursion, but if/when I get the thumbs-up, I'll be heading down from Chicago. Then I've got to get accommodations lined up. Not sure how you're heading down but maybe hook up somewhere in IN or OH?

koolmini, it's only an info sheet, Info Sheet

miniSail, I know MINIclo double booked, and she's looking for someone to take over the 2nd room, send her a PM. There's also a tenatve potential our "party cabin" will have an extra bed, PM me, holly or mully or indigo (or all of us!).
I'll be taking I-75 from Detroit to Knoxville, in which it's backroads from there to Deal's Gap. If you're coming from Chicago, we can meet up in Cincinnati if you take I-65 to I-74 (and then to I-75). This route seems most direct for you anyway! (sweet).

Cheers,
Ryan

Here is an email list that might be what you are looking for:

The May 1-3 Dragon Run on US129 at Deals Gap, NC. Details are being coordinated on the "mushr00m" mail list you can join here.

A good map of the Dragon can be found here.

Here on MCO search for "Dragon" or "Deals Gap".

If I have followed the "I'll be there" responses on the mushr00m list, it looks like about 60 Minis are now in the list coming from Florida and Georgia northwards to PA/NJ/NY and westward into TN, KY & OH, plus MiniClo coming all the way from LALA-land. Should be the East-coast event of the year.

Some side trips/events that have been suggested include the (in)famous bootlegger's "Thunder Road" (remember the Robert Michum movie from the 50s?), and the famous Biltmore Estate at Ashville, white water rafting, Invincta Shield installations on the spot, and countless camaraderie involving fermented malt beverages.

That group will be spending the night in Blacksburg, VA on I-81. It is about 2 hours north of the TN line.

We sure did have a nice time at that May rally in 2003.

Sure was fun to have a spontaneous minimally organized good time with friends.

I'll not be able to make this one as my MINI is not due to arrive for another week.
