Someone stole my "stubbie" Finish Line antenna yesterday. Now I'm back to the factory "remote control" standard.

The thing that bothers me most about this theft is I bought the antenna before I even took delivery of the car. It was my first "mod".

A replacment is on it's way from Florida - but I'm still irked!

You know, I bought a shorty antenae for my MCS before I got the car, too! In fact, I changed the antenae before I even opened the door for the first time. How strange is that?! I just wanted it "mine" from the get go. So I feel your pain. Sure, it's not a spendy thing to replace...but the principle of the matter is what will get to you. But some dillholes just don't respect anything or anyone.

It's mine biznatch, back off...don't TOUCH or TAKE!

Has anyone thought of using threadlock (the red stuff) to prevent this? Would it screw up reception? Also, would impede any future servicing? Just a thought that occurred to me while reading this thread. I have an aftermarket antenna too.

You guys are too much! Who would've thought you'd pick up The Cause?

Thanks for spreading the Wolfe Island MINI Gospel! Do you think you can do it on other threads as well?

Yo Robert, I've got good news! While your fresh non-fingered antenna is on it's way, I've decided to attend The Cause!! You should feel honored, cuz my local British car club has a show this same weekend, but I chose new scenery and kickin' track time over local stuff Now I just gotta put myself to whorking my plastic your way. Gotta question, how many have signed up so far? (you can PM me the details, if ya want)

Cheers, good luck, and see you in Sept!,
Ryan

Not a pricey item but more of a "sentimental" peice

My MINI is due in about 2 weeks, and I just ordered my antenae. Hmm, seems to be a trend.

My dealer sells MINIs w/ the Alta stubby if you ask- I picked mine up w/ one on it. I too wonder about reception w/ something like threadlock on the threads.

Ryephile: I've PM'd you - but FYI - at Mar 20 we had 22 of a possible 50 MINIs signed up. There's a lot of local MINI dealer support, so we'll fill 'er up for sure. Participants are coming from Vermont, Montreal, Ottawa, Detroit, Buffalo and Toronto.

See the discussion board at The Cause Amazing MINI Meet Site for other updates on sponsorship (surprises in the works), track day discussions, and a great one for you - "Motor Together & Convoy Sign-Up".

See ya in September!

IN regards to the thread lock, I had to use it on my Chevy P/U. The antena kept twisting off just from driving so I used the thread lock. I have not noticed any reception problems and it has been about 2 1/2 years now.

I do quite a bit of RF work and threadlock should not at all interfere with reception.

OK MG-BGT - say that again for the ladies! What is RF and what is threadlock ?

I did get the part that they will not interfere with the radio reception.
