R50/53 Poor Factory paint job
Poor Factory paint job
While getting my tint done today I noticed this on the back hatch. Looks like it was bubbled and someone started to sand it but never finished. $hitty thing is I bet this will be an over nighter to fix and my dealer is 90 miles away. I think I will wait until my first oil change to have this fixed.

Is it visible when the trim is back on?
Theres nothing unusual about that.
There was oil or soemthing on the pain when the roof was painted, and they sanded the rough down. There is still body sealer under it, you can see, its the tan stuff. My car has parts that were totally missed by paint, but the body sealer will still be there, they diip all the cars prior to painting.
I doubt the dealer will do anything about it.

Wow, that does look bad. Is that underneath something?
90 miles eh? I wish my dealer were 90 miles away. Mine is over 200!

this is another reason to check the car from head to toe before accepting the car upon purchase... could have been a shipping repair that was done on the docks prior to arrival at the dealership...
i don't think a new car inspection includes removing trim to inspect paint!
i agree with previous post, the car was dipped for rust protection- should be fine.
who knows what lurks under our trim....

i don't think that part comes with a trim to cover it up...
also, the anti corrosive sealer 'dipping' did nothing for the rust issues
we're seeing on the 02's rails under the weather strip (check beneath
the bonnet sticky). it's better not to over convince ourselves that
it works 100%.

Guess you should at least let your dealer know and see what they say about it. You don't want to get there and they say "sorry...so sad...not our problem!" Make sure they'd cover it first.
Man, stuff like that would absolutely drive me nuts!
