MINI Badge on Steering Wheel

Has anyone ever had a prblem with the badge on the steering wheel peeling off?
I have an 06 MCS that I got in November and I don't think these things should be happening yet.

Does anyone know how to get it back on or had the problem fixed?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I just saw another thread on this a few weeks ago you may want to run a search, I think the dealer position was to replace the steering wheel, on an 06 I'd say take it in and have the dealer fix it, whatever their solution may be.

Let's take a part of the car that's guaranteed to get a lot of wear and tear, and design it with crappy materials!

Let's then attach it permanently to one of the most expensive parts of the car!

yah the wings try to fly

--My MINI logo is trying to take off too. It seems to have delaminated and is currently a little bent because the rest of it wants to stay stuck on. Kinda lame, but the dealer said they would fix it.

I was the one that started the previous thread...

My 06 steering wheel logo started mysteriously lifting off on the right hand side as well

It hasn't worsened so I plan on addressing at my first oil change in a month or two

The logo on my MFSW is doing the same thing, same side... after building a pretty solid car its a little diheartening to see such simple and visible piece come undone. For 30K+ car I expected a little better.

On my wife's '05 MCSa, the right hand side of the emblem had bent up slightly so that it would catch on your coat when you were exiting the car. The dealer replaced the entire air bag unit to fix it (all under warranty). We were told that if we pulled it off or tried to reattach it that the warranty would be voided on it.

It's not a 30K+ car, it's a 20K car with a lot of options.

mine was only coming off b/c I hit the horn too hard one day... isnt it a piece of plastic, or the laminate on top of the piece is coming off?

The older MINIs have different steering wheels. I miss my 04 steering wheel for this reason. It was rock solid.

I got my 06 in February and it's peeling up. I will have them make note of it right now and just have them replace it right before the warranty is up.

Yeah, mine (05) too. I just haven't gotten around to calling the dealer about it.

I stopped by Mini of Mountain View yesterday and asked the badge be fixed... no questions asked, they just set me up with an appointment and ordered the part. It'll be fixed next week. W00T!

Well.... badge is fixed Evidently, if you use the horn and press from the center you get the badge-corner-lift. Now being, originally, from the East Coast (Boston) the use of the horn is part of the daily drive Now that I live on the West Coast and drive a Mini I've had to adjust my "horn" habits. Evidently actuating the horn from the center, even a few times, will cause the badge edges to come up. One of the Mini MA's at Mini of Mountain View said that a bulletin may be issued about his very problem Guess I'll have to go back to the one-finger salute

The key is you have to give the one finger salute while honking the horn. That's how it's done in MD.

Hmmmm, I see most of you are from a hot part of the country. Could this be some of the problem?

Add me to the second time club. The right hand corner of the MINI emblem is starting to stick up a bit again. I'm sure as soon as it gets cold again, that one of our jacket sleaves will snag the darn thing. It's amazing, no mechanical issues on either MINI but the dumb emblem on the steering wheel peels up twice . Sigh...

Arggh. Happened to me over the weekend. I'm sure Global will bend over backwards (just like the badge is doing...).

I was cleaning inside my 3-week-old Mini last night and the right tip of the badge popped out of its hole. Masked off the badge & surface & tried superglue, but the badge just doesn't want to go back in there. Invisible to anyone else, but it's right in front of me as I drive.

You think they'd have molded a curved badge that would be happy in there, rather than taking a flat piece of plastic an tacking it down to the roundish surface with Elmers' Glue. I'll be calling the dealership tomorrow to see what can be done.
