Are those run flat tires mounted on rims that are different from the ole' traditional type? I'm wondering if I can mount some snow tires on them and then try to figure out someplace for a donut spare. Waddya think?

Sure you can. I'm running Michelin Artic Alpines on my MCS OEM wheels for the winter. Just keeping the fingers crossed in case I get a puncture.

I beleive that the original runflat tires produced 15 years ago required special rims but the current run flat do not.

If you figure out a good mounting system for a spare tire, please let me know.

If you have an MCS and find a place to put the donut spare (interior and roof don't count) please let us know!

Why not make a cover for a doughnut size wheel with the MINi logo out of vinyl and just put it in the backseat.
Can't do much else with the back seat any way.

Just get a minispare and keep it in the boot, dealer confirmed that normal tires can be run on the runflat rims.

I might be totally nuts here, but I'm thinking that the mini donut spare is a 16" wheel...and most of the MCS folks who are thinking of run-flat replacements have 17" wheels. Wouldn't it be a real mess running 3 17" wheels and 1 16"?

(also, why is this wheel/tire discussion happening in MINI Talk and not the wheel/tire forum?)
