Any nagging problems that you don't mention?

Does your car have a problem, noise, trait that you think is irregular but you don't mention it? Maybe your worried that the problem will become worse or a new problem will crop up.

Maybe its a dash rattle, a vibration, a hard to close boot/bonnet, etc.etc.

I'll start:

My car a few weeks back had it's header(exhaust manifold) replaced because the CAT went bad. I also took the chance to reinstall my stock exhaust. Well ever since when I come to a stop (most times) you feel a strange (almost like) back pressure going through the center of the car. Like if the exhaust is restricting the engine while it downshifts (auto tranny).

The car seems to run fine so I ignore it.

Radiator fluid gurgles and makes wooshing noises just after starting and driving slowly. supposedly it can be bled but I haven't had time lately.

Sunroof makes one really loud pop after starting up and moving. Its startling, but at least its just one, rather than a rattle that keeps on going

My sunroof squeeks when it opens...

My auto shifts hard (almost feels like it is slipping but not) when going from 2nd to 3rd.

It has a cold start problem that no one can seem to fix...

I think that is about it... Oompa is in the shop today to get the computer flashed... So maybe that will help!

The damn stain that occurs when the rear winshield wiper excretes whatever it excretes and it drips down to the MINI logo on the boot. Purportedly, an issue with early 05 MCS (July '04 build). Actually that ain't bad for having the car 21 months!!

A "trait"? You bet. Whenever I get in the MINI I always get this rush of excitement that no car has ever instilled in me before. What a blast!

mdsbrain, I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I know that's not what you're looking for but I just couldn't help myself. Maybe there's a support group I could hook up? You know, folks with the same issue? Any suggestions?

....Les

SES light

Evere since January, when I had the oil changed by the dealer, the SES light will come on. After 3-4 cycles of start ups, it goes off. This happens about once a month. I haven't checked the codes lately, but I think it's all the same: knock sensor. Nothing appears wrong with the MINI, except for that light.

I think there's something wrong with my right front speaker, like maybe something loose around there that gets rattled a bit by the bass. But I'm lazy and the dealer is really far away and I have a feeling diagnosis would involve me putting in a CD and telling them to "play track 6 and listen for the rattle around the right front speaker" and I'd feel silly.

Well, it loves to rev and before you know it, you are running 90 mph.... So far, no tickets, but this can't hold forever.

My driver's side window makes a loud squeak sometimes when it rolls down, and there is some weird filmy-type stuff on the forward 1/4 (nearest the windshield) of both the driver and passenger side windows.

My brakes squeak, too.

MCS has that jerky on/off throttle input response unless you are very careful. there's just too much play probably with the motor or tranny mounts.

During "spirited driving" (seeking to avoid lock on this thread...), when I come to intersection stops, I catch a faint whiff of radiator coolant. No apparent leaks or problems but certainly a modicum of concern on this....

When I bought my MINI they never told me my car would give me a grin from ear to ear on every drive. And make me stressed and irrated every few months when the car spends a week or more for repairs.

Slide

The car seems to want to slide in this left hand turn I make across a well crowned road. It starts as a slight understeer and progresses to a slight oversteer. By the time the car is in line again it's time to make a right hander follwed by a left followed by a right. Speeds in the initial turn are well under the speed limit. I think this is related to something called "travel" which is available only in limited quantities in my suspension.

The other thing I notice is this recurring nose from the passenger side of the car. It almost sounds like "ohdeargodohdeargodohdeargod"

Is this noise occurring when the car is moving or parked?

you'll get used to it and then it will be completely natural feeling... just grab the inside handle and pull your arm down... but sort of 'flick' your hand out of the handle at the bottom of the stroke and it will close perfect every time.
