Sunroof makes one really loud pop after starting up and moving. Its startling, but at least its just one, rather than a rattle that keeps on going
I have this noise too.. I just thought it was the thermo openning and circulating thru the heater hoses....

One nagging problem not serious-
The rear seatback side latch seems loose so that it can rattle alot on bumpy roads- I'm thinking of putting some electrical tape on the latch.

And when I turned off my lights the other day I noticed the parking and rear lights on one side of my car were still on. Then I turned on and off the lights and it went off. I noticed the same thing on a MINI parked in a used car lot a week earlier.:impatient

Finally, I can't seem to drive slow enough in my MINI to get good gas mileage- it's like torture to drive the speed limit. What's up with that- It's like my MINI has mind control over my gas foot!

Maybe the same thing (mind control) happens to Prius owners, I followed one the other day and he was driving 5 mph under the speed limit in the middle of the freeway.

The locking mechanism which holds my rear seats in place made a odd noise until one day a tech put some silicon grease on it. If this is the same thing your describing.

This is a feature is used more often in countries (i.e. Germany) where you are allowed to park on the edge of the road leaving your fenders hanging out in to the traffic. Parking lights used for parking.

I have the same problem (aug 04 build). It's leftover Cosmoline from the shipping process that's caught in the rear wiper nozzle and blade (new 05 design) and also gets under the chrome trim. It was much worse early on. Bug and tar remover and buffing will take most of it away, but use sparingly. Your dealer should be able to take care of it if U wish to hassle your dealer about it; I choose not to because they have enough serious issues with other customers that mere "Cosmodrip." Jimbo

Bill the next time U get the whiff of coolant run your heater on highest setting full blast for a few minutes. That should cure this problem, common on all newer cars. Jimbo

For months I was plagued by an annoying rattle coming from somewhere in front of the driver (either deep in the dash or on the other side of the firewall). The car had to be moving to hear it, but it could happen all speeds. However, it was intermittent. It might not happen for a whole week, and then I might hear it during the entire length of an hour long drive. I was able to make a sound clip of it for the service people. It is the metallic tinkly sound starting at about 7 seconds.

When I took it in for service, I drove around the block with a tech and fortunately it was happening that day. He dove in under the dash and immediately said it was the steering column. They had to order parts, and I took this as an excuse to have them swap in a JCW steering wheel since they were going to take it apart.

That's awesome that you were able to replicate it for the tech . Usually what happens is they drive the car, don't hear anything and then just give up.

Occasional dash rattle (very intermittent); occasional squeak from brakes and from sunroof when first opened.

The filmy goop on the inside of the driver's window when I put it down - blech!

My continued inability to make a smooth 1st-2nd gear shift! I'm always lurching on that one!

The fact that CR/W seems to be a bird poop magnet, especially when freshly-washed

The sport seats get brutally uncomfortable after about 2 hrs in them.

You're right....from my understanding there are two points of entry for coolant and the system must be filled from both somehow. If this is done properly the gurgling goes away.

Me? I have an occasional cold weather dash rattle which is really of little bother. That's it.

Oh, and I may be having some very minor paint-failure issues on one or two of my '03 holeys...I need to have the dealer look at that but I haven't had time lately either. I'll also have them check out my MINI hub graphics which seem to be delaminating.

No, I don't wash my wheels too often (I think).

Have a '06 LY MC with 1865 on it. It's my first automatic transmission auto, car before was stick VW. Have noticed a lot of jerkiness at lower RPM's (like when stuck on traffic on the interstate, to the point that I feel like I'm getting whiplashed!) Then when I backed out of our long driveway last weekend, he lunged like a crazy car (thought I ran over something!) I know that he's raring to go and when I have brought this up with my SA, he said that the CVT is still "learning my driving habits" and should calm down by 1500K. Otherwise things have been smooth sailing - except I too, have the problem of removing the right foot from the accelerator at appropriate times - already have my first ticket!

It's funny what we put up with in a MINI. Any other car and it would be described as a POS. This is my 2nd MINI and my friends are always giving me crap when the car goes into the shop...however, it's worth every minute of it.

I complained about this to my service dept and they told me that back shelf gets in the way sometimes. If it is not in just right, it causes problems.

Just an idea

Never heard that before. But I do find it helps to have the windows open when closing the boot

I've found this to be the best technique. However the rear hatch sensor on my car did go bad and had to be replaced (under warranty). I have had a sunroof rattle, and there is another rattle in the dash that is intermittant. My car has to go in for scheduled service soon anyways, so I'll have them check the rattles out at the same time. I've also had some problems with the tire pressure monitoring system. One wheel sensor was replaced, but I get occasional pressure warnings from the idiot light. I'll stop and check pressures, and everything is fine

After Service II when the transmission fluid was changed on my CVT my car started to make an awful groaning/loud buzzing noise whenever the car is in drive (not reverse or neutral). Apparently the bearing is wearing down and changing the fluid removed particles that filled the gaps and kept the noise down. The only fix is to replace the bearing.
