Noise when turning left

2006 MCS - 2800 miles on the odometer.

I can't say when this problem started - probably when I went over a big pothole a while back. Anyway, when I turn the wheel left at slow speeds (i.e. no more than 2500 rpm in 2nd gear), the right front sounds like the wheel bearing is going. That might not be the case, but it has the same kind of sound - like a weird metal on metal rubbing noise. It's impossible to hear it unless you're really listening for it. I haven't checked the tire pressure since I picked the car up (I know, shame on me), but I'm going to today to make sure it's not slightly low and just rubbing on the sidewalls more than usual when I make a turn.

Are my assumptions correct, or is this just normal stuff?

My Mini has a rubbing sound too.

Yep, my left side is rubbing when slightly turning left. Just noticed it yesterday. I don't recall hiting a major pothole, but have hit some bumps. Second my well is slightly always turned to the right when driving most roads. Not sure if the wheel is out of alighnment, but gosh, its only been a couple thousand miles. I'm taking mine in to the dealer here tomorrow I hope.

Have the same problem with our 03. Took it to the dealer and had them check out the wheel bearing and they said it was fine. They said it could be from the tires being cupped. I kind of just let it go. Let us know what you find out.

Craig, even if you took delivery of the car with the problem they still have to fix the problem.

Let us know what everyones outcome was.

Noise and vibrations are the worst things to find.....in fact they down right suck!

Fixed

Well today I took it in.......I was a tad late, with trafic and me missing the turn just off the highway, but I found it. So after walking in and then sitting in the "chair", they had a service tech drive the car with me and he noticed the problem on the highway. Found out it was a bad left wheel bearing. I waited for about an hour and it was washed and ready to drive. There was no charge.

I would have to say it was an overall good experience. I was treated excellent. The waiting room is nice, supplied with Coffee and Krispy Krem's bottled water and OJ. Also they have a wireless nextwork so you can use your laptop, on in my case the Sony Psp. I was watching my TV and did some surfing while waiting.

Glad to hear it worked out okay, Craig. MINI service is usually top notch.

Craig, nice to know they fixed your problem. A bearing going is a big problem. Did they tell you how or why the bearing had the problem?

WOW only 2200, I guess we will have them check the bearings when we bring her in for the first check-up.

That is a good catch.
