Just completed break in.....

I was driving back home tonight on the highway when I passed 1250 miles (woooo hooo!!). As I came up on a couple of semi's going slower than me and needed to pass, I downshifted to 4th and floored it.....HOLY CRAPTASTIC, when I passed the 2nd semi and came up on redline, I was doing ( ) !!!! After slowing back down to a normal speed, I grinned knowing that this is going to be a long term love affair!!

Off the freeway, I took off at a light.....WOW, very forceful acceleration. I honestly can't imagine adding much more HP in the car, at least in first gear (it felt a little grip challenged).

The other thing that I love about this car is the comments I get ALL THE TIME!! I was at Home Depot this morning and got compliments from a guy. Asked if this was my car or my 4yr olds (ha ha ha)...then said it looked sharp!! The guys at the car wash all loved it and asked me lots of questions......every where I go I get compliments! It's amazing, what a fantastic car!!

Ditch the Runflats the differance is amazing! And Holy Craptastic sounds about right, glad to hear you love the preformance. Light car + HP + handling + grip, its an almost unbeatble combo when it comes to the fun factor

P.S. Edit the part about passing the Semi so this don't get locked.IB4TL

Ya, ibftl......5 months later. Well, I'm at 1190 miles today but because of work, I doubt Ill be in the position to be behind 2 semi's wondering what this sleeping beast will do at WOT. I got a hunch though! Hello, weekend, Hello,

From what I can tell, the JCW IS what the MCS should have been all along!

Hey Davisflyer,

Hope your new Mini gives you as much enjoyment as you can stand. Everyone is going to be giving you advice, so here is my 2 cents: Change the engine oil and filter NOW! 15000 miles is way too long to wait for the first oil change. I dumped mine at 1000 miles and was surprised at the contaminates in my oil and filter. After draining your oil, put some in a clear container and hold it up to the sun. You'll thank me over and over again for suggesting this.

Good luck!

Glad to hear your enjoying spirited driving, but you might want to edit the redline part out. The thread will get locked because it might relate to street racing.

Here are the site guidelines

According to moto-man, http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm, your MINI was already broke in about 1230 miles ago. Change the OIL.

I'm at day 2 and 500 miles going to have it broken in early next week I hope. My wife got a Volvo and they said nothing about a breakin period I wonder if the auto tran. is the difference.

Since the information in question has been edited out (including my edit of kenchan's post, since he quoted the originator), I do not plan on locking the thread, and I doubt other mods will either (but that's their call).
