White Sunroof Graphic

Looking at getting a Hyper Blue with White Roof w/ Premium Pkg. I have never taken the time to notice this config before on other MINI's, but how does having a sunroof change the 'white roof' experience? Is getting the White Sunroof Graphic one of those necessary options? Thoughts?

I found that having the sunroof detracted from the 'white roof' experience. So I added some white and some black.

My Cooper has a sunroof and the glare was really bad, so I added a perforated decal. It has helped, but on really sunny days, I still wear a ball cap to help eliminate the problem.

Personally, I don't like the appearance of white-roofed MINIs with sunroofs. We added the OEM white sunroof graphic to my wife's purple haze MCS and it looks fantastic. It also doesn't let in that much light (don't think it's perforated per se).

We have a CR/W with the sunroof and it was too much light for me so I added the white decal from the dealer. I can still open the sunroof if I want but now have a totally white roof.
Check out my gallery, I think I have a picture there.

When I ordered my MC, I wanted the Union Jack roof decal...but I also wanted a sunroof. The UJ decal won out, and I totally forgot about UJ decals to cover the sunroof.

Have any of you installed the sunroof graphic yourselves, and if so, how hard was it to do? My dealer wants to add $85 just to install it.

Nah it does not change the 'white roof experience' IMHO at all - you can clearly see the white roof brightly standing out and having the clear glass and moon or sunlight without nec. having to have the roof open is the best to me. I use a sunroof cover inside the car to keep it cool when it is hot, other then that I get the full benefit of being able to look up at the sky/trees/moon clearly otherwise

Here's the delivery day pic of HB/W

You really have to be quite a bit higher then the Mini to really take any notice of the dark sunroof, otherwise you really just pay attention to the white roof and spoiler popping, the dark square is of no mind and unobstructed glass offers worthwhile benefits to me

There was a great do-it-yourself article in the first MC2 magazine about installing this yourself.

I've been thinking about adding the checkered roof to my MINI and also tinting the windows. So the window tinting place offered to install my roof graphic for FREE if I got the windows tinted to 30%. Quote was $250. They also offered some checkered graphics for MUCH LESS than the oem checkered graphic. I know some of these graphics are perfed to allow some light in and to still make it feel like a sunroof when it's closed.

Another place to check for install is a graphics sign shop, but their price for install is greater than your quote of $85 from the dealer. That's a pretty good deal, unless it's $85 per square!
