R50/53 Who else is in love w/ their MINI?
Call me crazy but ever since I had taken delivery of my MC I haven't eaten much or slept very much either. I even talk to Beepers, I suppose this car is just more special than other cars to me. I wouldn't want aything else, and I always worry when Beepers is in a parking lot. So many drivers here in SoCal can be reckless and disrepectful of others cars  Luckily I saw what she was trying to do before she did it and I layed on the horn
I have been in love with it for over two years, and daydream about it too. And I don't even have it yet!
How did you find the horn button in that panic situation? I think I am going to practice honking it when I get it. Wish it was the whole center button!

every now and then, something comes along - just another man-made contraption, only so much steel and fabric - but something appears on the scene that strikes you in just the right way ... everything does what it's supposed to do, everything is in just the right place, everything just Fits You like most other things don't ... every now and then sometthing just speaks to you in just the right way.
before you know it, this perfect thing is taking up more and more of your time and thoughts ... you start thinking about what you can do to personalize it, to customize it, to modify it, to Me-ify it ... you spend more and more time just looking at it or giving it that "XK-E" glance as you walk away from it; instead of sitting down on the couch to read a book you find yourself sitting in the garage to read ... you think about some little thing that's been on your mind all day and go sit in the car to get that better perspective - and the next thing you know ... you're waking up the next morning ... still in the passenger's seat - where you decided to sit just to see what that side of the car is like ...
In Love? nah ... it's just a dream ... but don't pinch youself - this one from which you don't want to wake ...

Red, go and read my latest post in the April Club. (it's only slightly relevant,
)
anyway, during my latest cruise in a MINI, I found the horn buttons actutally convenient (gasp!) Usage of the horn is less of a "panic smash" and a more controlled "button push", and this fits my personality quite well. I dislike having to reach to the center of the steering wheel (I am really, really lazy when it comes to automotive ergonomics) just to honk the horn, so I'm all for the buttons near my hand positions. Here's how ya do it: 1. while holding wheel in correct "9&3" positions, flip thumb towards middle of wheel. 2. notice your thumb is directly over the horn button! 3. Push as desired 4. repeat if necessary! 5. Motor-on!
Cheers,
Ryan

I <state your name> am a MINI-aholic
Don't cha know it baby!! awWWWW yeah...
I think your defensive driving skills really kick in once you are on the road. people don't pay attention and /or they are looking at your car so they don't brake in time. When i am at an intersection and the light is turning yellow, i look in my rearview to see if they person behind me is going to run it so I don't suddenly brake and get rear-ended.
I also safety park, but that is just a nice stroll to the market or shop. I wish I had an invisible force field I could put around Gidget.

I love my Lectric Bloo MCS, Mr. MINI.
Wait, if I love my MINI, should I call it MS. MINI?
Oh the worries of a MINI driver! What to do, what to do...
Think I will go for a drive!
...and no yer not alone, we all love our MINIs. Motor on!

Hey Fellow CWFFC! I feel exactly the same. You probably read my post awhile back in the CWFFC - as soon as I got my car, this was a new worry. Where to park... never in my life has this been a preoccupation until now. I've had my MINI a little over two weeks and I still worry. Everyone at work laughs that I park at BFE, but it's a small price to pay to keep my baby bootiful. Enjoy!!!

Oh yeah, I definetly love my MINI! At my office I park it where I can see it from one of the offices. I'm in a cubicle, so I have to go into someones office every now and then to check on it! Or just to look out at it. Luckily I have a friend that has an office where I can check on my MINI. Every time I go in there to look out his window, he calls me an "Idiot" and laughs at me! But I cant help it! I love that car so much!
I was driving my old buggy around town picking up a few odds and ends to get her ready for the car mart, and thinking about my soon to arrive MINI while listening to the Beatles.
In My Life
By John Lennon and Paul McCartney
There are places I remember all my life,
Though some have changed,
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living.
In my life I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers,
There is no one compares with you,
And these mem'ries lost their meaning
When I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
In my life I'll love you more.

How true this is! I used to be a much more aggressive driver (even though I hate to admit it, you can translate "much more aggressive" to "a bit of a jerk at times"
.
Now that I have the MINI I still love to drive quickly, and take turns that put unsuspecting passengers faces up against their window
- but I am ever so much more DEFENSIVE! I leave as big of a "space cushion" as I can manage. I never EVER tailgate nor do I allow someone to tailgate me - if speeding up a few miles an hour doesn't solve it, then I slow down significantly so they pass.
Quite frankly, I didn't realize how aggressive a driver I was until I got the MINI and transformed into a defensive driver. It scares me to think about some of the stupid things I've done in a car in the past...
I guess love really can change a person!

Digital, you just have a bad case of "the fever.".....ain't it great! I have the same symptoms and still no door dings....I mean the car looks great!!! But I still continue to discover how well it drives!...and so my MINI continues to inspire. My poor kids have even had to learn the "right way" to open the doors and the boot to not cause smudge marks.
I'm in the D/FW mid cities area, and I'm really surprised how respectful other drivers are to my MINI...even SUV drivers! Its as if they think the car is special, too. Same thing in parking lots. (yes, I do watch who parks next to me...again, the fever.) People watch their doors carefully even when there's lots of room, which is usually the case. All in all the MINI elicits a good deal of respect which says a lot for humanity, at least in my neck of the woods.

I love, love my MINI too!
I'm trying not to get too "weird" about it. In fact, this is the only place that I'll confess to being in love with an inanimate object. Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do is look out the window to see if the MINI is OK. In the evenings, I walk past the window several times to look at it. Oh, and let's not even get me started on the parking issue. Please, please don't park by my MINI, please!
Yes, I love, love my MINI!!!
I get cold sweats just thinking about that first door ding or paint chip from a pebble being flung behind a truck. Not to mention the fact that State Farm said they would not cover my MINI if it gets melted in a nuclear blast.
I'm glad that I'm not alone. I LOVE my MINI!!!
Peace,
Kecia, did I mention that I love my MINI?

I think 8ball summed it up perfectly. It just fits. I had to have it! Nothing else came close. I dream about MINIs, I've perfected my parking lot strategies, and even when I'm not motoring, I still have MINI on the brain!

I also love my MINI, to the point that I obsess about it all the time. The car is just so darn cute and adorable. I am always cleaning him, inside and out. Like someone else mentioned, I drive my MINI very carefully to ensure that it doesn't get hurt.
And when I discovered a scratch on him this morning, .... OH! Argh!
