Magnetic Bonnet Stripes

Has anyone seen or had an experience with these from Moss? http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...39&SortOrder=6

Looked interesting and was just wondering if they worked and looked ok or not!

I don't have any direct experience with any bonnet / graphic supplier, but http://www.cooperflags.com/ is another vendor that is pretty highly regarded. They even do custom work.

I'm sure others will chime in with details on their experience.

I looked into those magnetic bonnet stipes myself but was worried about the possibility of scratching the paint. Hopefully somebody out there has purchased them and can give us some good feedback.

Someone out there who has used them please let me know. I never even knew there was something like that. I don't want to dedicate myself to stripes because I really want to go crazy and put the graphic of my tattoo on my bonnett, but for now, magnetic stripes? What a concept! I may email the company and ask about scratching the paint, movement, etc...

I've got 'em

I bought magnetics because I wanted the option to "dress up" the car once in a while. Here are some thoughts:
  • They hang on very well at speed.
  • They're generally easy to use and have not damaged my finish.
  • You've got to clean the bonnet before applying.
  • They're easier to apply when warm.
  • Lining things up can take a minute or two.
  • If left on for a few days what looks like a watermark/film can exist underneath; this may be related to Northwest rainy environment. I simply speed shine it away.
  • When I get to club event I can change up to differ from others with my colors combo.
  • I don't have to mask off stripes to detail the car.
  • The Moss version looks a bit different, too straight in first photo, than mine. I'll look for my vendor info.

Thanks for the info slate-Let us know when you locate your vendor information-I should be taking delivery soon of my 06 MC and for a while would like the option of stripes and no stripes until I determine if I want them on there to stay! Plus the factor of taking them off to wax would be so easy! Thanks for the imput!

I ask the same question a few months before. The conclusion I got is
magnetic stripes will easily leave a mark on your car, especially when
there is moisture get underthe st ripes. And others also mention it
does not stick very well.

I sure as heck wouldnt put magentic stripes--or anything else magnetic--on my car for the scratching potential that someone else stated, and that a couple years ago some NAMer told his story about his magnetic stripes and they tended to peel off exceeding 70mph. You can do want you want of course, but count me in as someone that wouldnt waste my money on these sketchy accessories.

Now, extending my stripes down my boot lid, yeah, that rocks

IMO, of course. Jimbo

I might give them a try. I'm not too worried about scratches as I have been using magnetic numbers for autocrossing for years with no trouble. They key is making sure you've got a good coat of wax under the surface the magnetics are being applied to, and that paint and magnetic mating surfaces are absolutely clean.

As for the stripes coming off at 70 mph? It would mostly depend on the magnetic material as to how well they would stick. I've hit 115-120 mph at a track day before and my magnetic numbers stayed on just fine.

If/when I do get the magnetic stripes, I wouldn't leave them on for extended periods of time since moisture can get trapped underneath, and fogging can result.

MightyStripes supplied mine; just search "bonnet stripes" on ebay and you'll find one of their auctions or www.mightystripes.com

I bought a set from http://ministripes.com/ for my last MC and for my sisters MCC and have had zero problems with them. They worked well for about half the price of vinyl installed.
