Plug in your MINI dealer scan tool

Waiting for the day, maybe not too far off *ahem* when this functionality is available to the car owner at a reasonable price.

There is no info other than what I said above. I'm not aware of a way to reset the service indicator light without the tool, but if there is I'd like to know

Eventually we'll figure out a way without the dealer. A word of warning: If you fill your gas tank while the engine is running, the CEL will come on and require a trip to the dealer. Oddly though, last weekend I forgot to put the cap back on after filling up and the CEL did not come on when I started the engine and took off down the road!

here is how to reset the service light:

1) Press and hold the trip button
2) Insert key and turn to position 1
3) Watch for "RESET" to appear
4) Release the button, then press & hold it again
5) Wait for the "RESET" to flash
6) Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
7) Service interval should then be reset to 10,000 miles

My indicator came on about 5k, when Lizzy was driving, and she filled it up. She said it was on before she filled it though. Dealer said it's a tank pressure prob and will go away in a couple days. it's at 5500 now and two weeks and another tank of gas. still on

Do what I did with the Check Engine light in my wife's VW Passat... disasemble the dash in order to get to the light and REMOVE IT.
Though with all the BMW service light reset tools available on the market, I'm sure someone will come out with a MINI version.
