Sunroof shade?

I have an MCS on order and have been reading on some of the options I picked out. The forums overall opinion on the sunroof is pretty much split in half. Some of you love it; some of you can't stand it. I noticed that most of those who have a problem with it are people who live in sunny states (i.e. South Florida ) because there's no opaque cover.

Is this a good solution: http://www.stratmosphere.com/mini_interior.htm

I wouldn't use it all the time, as it's not that great looking, especially with an Anthracite headliner. But it would definitely come in handy during the Summer which is right around the corner and right when I'll be taking delivery (June).

So, does anyone use this? Good? Bad?

It works very very well, the material seems to be quite insulating and the reflective side probably also helps. The key also is that they fit very tightly, you have to get used to how to put them in and its great.

I kept them in all of last summer, especially the rear half of the sunroof. The front half I would take in and out every once and a while. They really do make a difference in the Texas heat. I need to put them back in soon actually. The first few times you put them in they are kind of tight and tough to fit, but after a couple of times in and out they are easier to work with. If I ever bought another MINI it would probably be without the sunroof. I wasn't sure if I wanted it or not when I bought this one, but I went with it. Now I probably wouldn't have.

I have never used... never thought to.. I just use the shade screen, it has worked for me just fine. ( or maybe I have just overly fried my brains here in the Arizona sun ).. But its only sunny 300 days a year, and never gets much over 120. ( ok,, Im fried!!! )

Thanks for the link on this. I could be Motoring to Texas later this year and this would be a great to have for those extremely hot days. Would also be great for when I am parked at work all day to cut down on the heat inside the car.

I have never used that shade but find that tint does the trick just fine.

A car cover works better.
I know most will not want to take the time to put a cover on their car, but I lived in Arizona for 30 years and covered my car most of the time it was outdoors. It made a great difference in the life of the paint and interior.
Even now in Tennessee, not nearly as sunny, I cover my car and notice the difference.

Its not mylar wrapped cardboard. No material thin enough to roll up into the shade thing would provide the same insulation factor IMHO (since I've used the typical thin silver fabric on the windshield to compare). If it were very reflective and did not conduct the heat through to the interior it might be close.

We've recently developed a Sunroof Shade that will stay attached to your sunroof while it is open. Here are a few pics of our http://ZippeeShade.com:
