I have the opportunity to buy a fully loaded dark silver MCS with nav from Universal City MINI in Los Angeles. Somebody special ordered it, and it got held up at customs coz it had a little damage during shipping, so the person gave up on it.

It's all been fixed up, and the dealership is receiving the car in a few days. Now, I noticed they were tacking on a 6K markup to the 27k price. I think that's ridiculous. Is it worth scopping this one up and negotiating on the markup, or ordering one through another dealership that doesn't gouge!

Save the 2K per month !!

Wait.

I've waited for 50 weeks so far. And I'm still alive and happy. You can be too.

If you're willing to travel, you could have a VERY nice trip home in your new car with only part of that $6000.

Welcome to MCO Sambusik!

IMO, this "deal" needs to be "scooped up" using any handy pooper scooper and deposited accordingly. The MINI is a great car...but definitely not worth $33K for a car with repaired shipping damage (or un-damaged, for that matter).

Shop around -- outside of SoCA -- and you can find cars on the lot (as is this one) for MSRP or sometimes less. Or order your perfect car at MSRP. Lots of posts here about out-of-state ordering, shipping, etc. Just use the SEARCH function within threads.

I'm sure you'll find the MINI you're looking for...but at this price, I doubt that this one is it.

yeah, i think you all have a good point. I also checked out the dealer reviews for universal city MINI, and generally people aren't too happy with them. I just think dealer markup is stupid...

I'll do some hunting around and I'm sure somebody will have one on the lot!
thx!

6K is a bit extreme....you can drive down to Long Beach, Crevier or Irvine, find quite a few nice MCS (Irvine has quite a few right now I happen to know), and pay less markup.

Or, deal with the wait and order from Long Beach. They only charge MSRP when you order

Call Concord (CA) mini, they usually ask for $1900 markup but they had a lot of inventory on the lot a few weeks ago, and were offering several at msrp. no wait, no msrp, maybe they will have what you are looking for.

If you are in the LA area, give Christian Banks a call at Crevier. I live in San Diego County and he made it worth my while to purchase from Crevier. My local retailer (notice I didn’t say “dealer”) wanted $5,000+ over for a MCS in stock. My total waiting period at Crevier will be less then 3 months and I will get the exact car that I want.
