goofy alarm question...

I have ordered my car to include the factory alarm. And have been having doubts I actually want it now. So first of all what are all your thoughts on getting it - worth it or not? But my goofy question is, for those that don't have it how do you know when your doors lock...I mean, when you are walking away from your car and pushing the remote lock, is there a sound it makes so you know it's locked or do you have to hope it happened? I can't imagine pushing the button and not hearing anything ...or how does that work?

i like it cause its built into my key... easy and convienent....
when you lock and unlock the car, the lights flash and the car honks at you... once for lock and twice for unlock (something like that)...

and if you DONT like it... its a dealer installed option... so you have time to change it...

oh and the BEST thing about it.. being able to walk up and make the noise.. and everyone looks at you and your hot car

i believe it honks if you press it a seocnd time to let you know it is locked.

you can also have it set so the car locks after two minutes of being unlocked if nothing else is done.

also, i have never heard of a MINI being stolen unless the theif had the keys. I wouldnt spend the money on the alarm, the MINIs are engineered so well for theft security

you still see ligths flash, and you can hear the locks actually work, personally I like being able to unlock the car without hearing it echo through the nieghborhood.

Okay, so if you have no alarm installed you still see flashing lights when you lock and unlock the car?...just no sound (chirp)?

hit the lock button and and the lights flash and your doors automatically lock, or unlock...depending if you are coming or going.

if you have the alarm, make sure you hit the set button twice [just like when you normally lock the doors], so as to lock the boot, too,...or the durned thing will false and start honking all over the place.

I have a feeling you don't need the extra noise to get the attention
