Production plant closure

Does anyone know if the MINI production plant has reopened after their scheduled 3 week (?) closure. I have a MCS on order and my MA said is was tentatively schedule for the last week in January, but as of yet ASK MINI only says it is on order with no confirmed build date.

Thanks

Mine also says scheduled for production with no confirmed production date. My MA says mine will be built in February. I didn't know that the plant was closed now. I had heard of the closure on whiteroofradio but didn't know when it was.

From what I heard the closure was to be about 3 weeks and begin in late Dec or early Jan.

I placed an order on Dec. 14. Two days shy of a month later and..........it remains, On Order. It'll still beat by far the six months I waited for my '02 MCS.

Check out the production week 4 support group, there's been a little discussion about the shutdown there https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=57333

From what I've been told by my MA, there are no cars scheduled to be produced during week 1,2 or 3 of the new year, which would make my week 4 production car the first production week of 06. According to MINIUSA, my car is "on order" also, no production date yet. My MA also said that they have not been told any specific dates of the closure, he only knows that there are no week 1,2 or 3 production slots. For what its worth......

You guys should talk to customer reps. The automated system says ordered with no confirmed date but when i talk to a rep he says that it will be built week four..he also said the plant was closed and it might be a slow to get back up to speeds with production so their might be a delay

Great, mine is there too, waiting for a scheduled build date... I'm now going starting thinking they are going to rush all the next jobs (including mine) just to play catch-up and things are going to slip through the cracks. ... I'm guessing more than usual creaks and rattles with the car and lots of trips to the dealer for malfunction purposes. . I don’t think negatively or anything do I?

what really makes me mad is the fact that there is no notification on their web-site about the shut down. My dealer told me that they were closed for a week for the holidays....which now turns out to be another lie.

Check out the Production Week 4 Support Group thread (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=57333)

There are no Week 1, 2, or 3 builds.

Doesn't seem like the dealer network knew too much about this

Well, I ordered my MCS on November 17th (or so)...It then began production on December 4th, with an estimated completion date of December 18th. As of now, my car is STILL in the "paint shop". To date, I have been given several different answers since the Dec. 18th scheduled completion date. My MA originally told me that the plant would be opening on January 6th, but that obviously never happened. He then told me yesterday that the plant would re-open next week, and that I should expect it to complete production at the end of next week. The customer service reps are also saying the same thing, so we'll see what happens...

It's just so irritating since my MA GAURANTEED me that it would be finished before the close; otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered when I did. He even told me that my car would be here the 2nd week of January at the latest...My old car will be gone in a week (it had been perfectly timed with the MCS' supposed arrival, but oh well...) I'm very disappointed to say the least... :-\

geeez, i feel your pain....and i nly ordered mine on the 23rd of dec. I can only image how far mine is actually going to be pushed back. As of right now (just finding out about this closer) I honestly feel like getting my money back. Thats how mad I am..But i'm sure i'll calm down in a few days. The dealer claims mine should go into production next week...if it doesn't, and i'm not very hopeful, i'm not going to be a happy camper

I know what you mean...I was looking at a few A3s and A4s at the Audi dealer last night - they have so many in stock.

I keep forgetting how fun the MCS is to drive, though...I guess I'll wait, but it's really not funny anymore

Ordered mine November 26th and asked them to slow-track it so that it would only arrive late February (to avoid most of the crappy winter and just in time to beat the price hike on 1st March).

Returned from an extended Xmas/New year vacation to receive the unexpected (but joyous) news that the car had been built on 12/18 and had arrived at the dealership on 12/31 (wow.....that was fast !!). They're holding it for me until I'm ready to collect....have to pay for it though .

So i emailed Mini and asked them about their plant closer..So I still don't know who to believe..And If what she says is true, then why haven't there been any weeks 1-3 production folks stepping forward?...but this is what I got:

Hi Jason,

Thanks for writing MINI. I am sorry to hear of your concerns with our MINI
production facilities, but I think I have some good news to share.

Our plant is not closing. We cut production back a little bit so that we can
work on expanding our production facility, but new MINIs are still being born
every day.

It is hard to wait for something as fun as a MINI, so I'm sorry for any delay
our plans cause for your new baby. You will still be able to track your new MINI
on our website, and your MINI dealer will be kept abreast of any changes in
production which might affect your car.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an
e-mail. I will be happy to lend a hand.

LET’S MOTOR.

Something is very wrong with that. Are you sure it's not already done and that it's just sitting at the dock waiting for a boat? Paint shop is like 2 or 3 days, but they somewhat lag online and on the phone. My MA found out that it was sitting at the port before they updated any info online.

I just checked ASK MINI today and found that my MINI has been born and is on the way to the ship. It had been in the "Paint Shop" from December 16 until the last time I checked two days ago. I understand assembly is pretty quick (24 hours) but I had thought something was amiss with being hung up in paint so long.

Also, I don't know how any of this figures with the plant closure - which is supposed to be happening now.

I was bouncing off the walls today to hear that my MINI actually exists and is waiting for her boat ride !!!

Bill
