New MINI - My door wont close right.

My drivers side door won't close all the way 50% of the time. If I close it hard or soft..the door doesn't fully engage.

I have more luck closing it from the outside (but that don't help! I need to drive!)

No belts or anything is getting in the way. Is this a common problem??

Not common to my knowledge. It sounds like the door needs to be adjusted. Have you contacted the dealer?

Happened to my 2005 and it turned out the door catch was loose. It was as simple as getting out my torx screwdriver and readjusting it and then tightening it up

You sure it's not the window staying in the up position? On MINI's the windows drop down about 1/4" everytime you open them, then when you shut the door, they rise up the rest of the way to make a tight seal. Sometimes the window fails to drop and it makes it seem like your door won't close correctly...

rock on,

I bet that is frustrating , I haven't had that problem, but we have had a problem off and on with the window not rolling itself up after you close the door, had the dealer take a look at it, and said that the windows needed resetting, they did that, but it hasn't solved the problem , I guess we will get them to look at it again at the next service, unfortunately, we live about 180 miles from the dealer, so it is something that can wait .

I'm not sure if what you are describing is what happened to me...but check out this thread, maybe you will have the same diagnosis. Good luck!
