R50/53 this brings a tear to my eye....
Yeah it needs air bags. you need to read the discription. I can't believe that someone only drove it for 236 miles and then:smile:

The really funny part though is the price! I bet you could get 600 if you took the time to really scrap it out and sell the cores and what not. If anyone would buy that for that price the should be sterilized and force to move to alabama and live with my Psyco exgirlfriend. Hell maybe I could get 6 grand if i sold her on ebay!

>>When did the CVT get paddle shifters?
I think that must be a mistake. Whoever is trying to sell the car doesn't know MINIs very well as you can tell from the ad. I bet the car just has the MFSW and cruise control. But if I am wrong, someone please tell me where I can get paddle shifters for my CVT. So far, their availability has only been a rumor.

>>Wow - that really stinks!
Uh, I'm thinking that it's being sold as a rebuildable? From the damage -- and the airbag deployment alone -- it's likely totaled by the insurance co. The inaccurate info in the description (e.g., paddle shifters) is both in keeping with eBay in general and especially ads placed by dealers/salvage companies that really know little about the cars they're trying to move.
Also, to follow up on Holly's question about the airbags... Airbag deployment can happen at relatively low speed impacts. I've seen it in 10 mpg crashes in parking lots. Sometimes this is an error in the system, but usually it has to do with the actual force of the impact, which has little to do with speed. The fact that the transmission case on that MINI was cracked indicates that this was a pretty forceful crash. Looks like they hit a tree or utility pole square on. And given that the bags deployed, I'd guess the driver/passengers were OK.
If you haven't done so, you should visit

This MINI was built in mid August, and sailed to New York on the Don Juan. It arrived in the states on 10/10/2002. So with this MINI having only 236 miles on it the accident must have happened shortly after the new owner got it.
Make me sad that someone would do this to the MINI

>>I wonder if the person that owns it knows it's for sale on ebay???

The person who wrecked it (and presumably owned it) no longer owns it. The insurance co. effectively buys your car when they total it. This car's being sold by a salvage yard.
But to your basic point, I'll bet that anyone who drives their MINI into a tree after having it for only a few hundred miles really couldn't care less what their wreck is going for.
