Motoring Remote

I spent last week on the Natchez Trace Parkway from Nashville to Natchez. A beautiful ride and highly recommended ( particularly if you have a radar detector). Throughout the course of 1 1/2 days I had not seen another Mini. It dawned on me that there was not likely a dealership in the whole state of Mississippi. Breakdowns happen. What do you do? With a AAA PLUS with 100 mile towing won't get you to safe haven. It made me nervous. I will plan future trips with this list http://www.cardealersusa.com/mini.htm The U.S.A. needs more dealerships. Everywhere i went in southern Tn,MS,AL , the locals looked at me as the operator of a spacecraft.

Don't ignore us because MINI does.

The 100 mile distance mentioned is not towing, it's for trip reimbursement if your 100 miles away from your home. It covers a rental car and I do believe lodging. Your MINI will be towed to the nearest dealer no matter the distance and it gives you the option for an additional 50 miles to a dealer of your choice. The nearest dealers in this area are Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta and Baton Rouge.

Hope you keep enjoying trips down here. If your ever down in the north Alabama area again. Look us up.

I think a guy from Detriot or Chicago recent posted that he had his MINI tranny go out on him on his business trip and MINI treated him incredibly. They covered everything for his trip even though he had already paid for a hotel.

You might want to search "Trip Reimbursment" or something like that.

From page 25 of the Service and Warranty booklet supplied with my MINI:

Towing Service

In the event of a mechanical breakdown normally covered under the MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty, your vehicle will be transported (at no cost) to the nearest authorized MINI Dealer. Your vehicle is also covered in the event of an accident or collision.

This is MINI's policy which services are provided by AAA. Once the limited warranty expires you get nothing unless you go with AAA on your own. If you do that, then you'll be restricted to AAA services, not services set up by MINI and provided by AAA.

MINI does tow further than 100 miles. I once broke down in Biloxi, Miss during a trip and my MINI was towed to Baton Rouge, La. A distance of 147 miles.

You all have been very helpful. I love this forum. One has to use their imagination to go into my mind on the Natchez Trace. 444 miles, 1wife,1 small car made in England, 1 gas station with no service bay. You feel like Alan Shephard or John Glenn.

Frank you practically passed my house! The only thing separating me from the Trace right now is the front yard, TN Highway 13, and some trees. If you come into Collinwood TN (the only town actually situated on the Natchez Trace) just ask a local if they've seen another car like that, they'll send you my way, I'm the only one in the county so far
