Opinions on Appearance Protection offered?

My wife and I just bought a MSCa '06 this week and were wondering if the Appearance Protection warranty was worth the $685???

Thanks!

do you mean clear bra? If so, thats a steal. I've been trying to find a reasonable aftermarket price and its mostly $1200 installed. Parts alone may be cheaper but the installation cost is a killer.

Is is worth it? Many people believe so. Personally, I dont like the line cutting across the bonnet but am still considering doing it.

Take a look at the cars in the showroom. See what you think. Some ppl swear by it

I don't know what this is but it has the ring of something designed as 100% dealer profit boost. My gut feeling is I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole

Than again....what is it?

If it's the paint protection (wax) and fabric protection (Scotchguard), then it's not worth nearly that much money.

Those dealer add ons are never worth it in my book, just a way for the to make more $$ off you while you are a captive audience. (I believe the financing people, etc are nicely rewarded for getting people to go for the add ons.)

Let us know what it is specifically and I'm sure people here can help you determine if its worth it at all, find a place to do whatever it is, or guide you on how to DIY

I paid $345 for my FULL MCS clearbra kit (Ventureshield which is much superior to the 3M film products) and that included installation.

Anything over $450 is a blatant ripoff.

Do your homework. If this is a clearbra we are talking about, then you can do much better on your own.

No, is it not a bargain.

You should see my clearbra. People can't even see the "line" and when they get closer they get amazed. Ventureshield rocks!

99% optical clarity!

Appearance Protection:

per Mini of Dallas...1) Paint Gaurd protects paint against oxidations and fading 2) Fiber gaurd protects carpet and fabric against stains 3) Leather gaurds protects against drying, fading and aging 4) 5 year Limited Warranty on covered damage

Thanks!

i'm not sure what this is... if it's a clear bra, then yes, you can do a lot better... if it's some kind of insurance against chips and dings than i would do it. i would love to be able to go in and have my dings and dents fixed at will.

EDIT: the post above was posted at the exact same time as mine... per the description, i don't think i'd go for it.

Like most things the dealer offers other than the car, that's a total ripoff. Though I did pay the 85 bucks for floormats , but at least they do look nice.

You mean like wax?

It comes in a can. $5 to do it yourself. Better yet, just keep food and drinks out of the car.

Again, plenty of decent products out there for $5-10.

Woo-de-doo.

Out of that $685, I'd say about $675 is pure profit.
