SUV Driver Needs Lessons in Parking and Courtesy

Please note the location of the white line under the SUV. He's also in a valuable end space that is very close to the building. WHAT A HOG OF AN @$$-CLOWN! As you can see, it's not a problem for me and Red 5. We can park in half a space. MINIs can park just about anywhere.

May the Force be with us,
--Will

Thats just lame

I see so many SUVs jammed into and overlapped compact spaces that I've considered carrying flyers or fake 'bad parking' tickets to dispense

yea but thats one of those rare and fancy chevys!

In the rare ugly green color, very expensive, that will be losing half if value next year...lol.... I parked my car and took up a half a space and some ********* parked at hyundi right next to me so close i could not get in , wow you get a fancy piece of crap rice burner and it has to park close to mine, maybe they think the design will rub off on them
I try to park out in the middle of no where so i don't get the (walmart dent) that everyone else has, my car is worth too much for some crapy car to get near it!

SUV drivers that stuff their behemoths into compact only spaces or park over the lines are as bad as MINI drivers that arrogantly park in 2 spaces at the same time.

Courtesy cuts both ways.

I'm certainly not advocating taking two spots. However, at least the one won't damage the car next to it unlike the SUV that will inevitably ding the car it is squeezing next to in the compact space.

I remember years ago how I could barely get into my car via the passenger side since SUVs were so close to my car in very small compact spaces at the mall. Luckily I'm not a very big person so I got in with the several inches the door opened

The MINI has HUGE doors. When both doors are opened full 90 degrees, the car measures LONGER from door to door than front to back

Anything that parks close to our cars may make it almost impossible to climb aboard. Unfortunately, most pin heads out there fail to realize that a small car like the MINI has bigger and longer doors than any full size SUV.

I've considered ordering a batch of these bumper stickers to keep in my glovebox:

Yeah, but doing this has its own set of risks. Standing out isn't always a good thing. - My own experience:

I spent a DAY (6am, til 8pm) clay-baring, polishing, waxing & cleaning, then went for icecream with friends. Parked a whole row away from other cars & diagonal to a new Vette. Came out to find my rear badge ripped off, spit all over the car (like a crowd was spitting on it) & dents in my roof!

Its a good thing I wasn't around when it went down, or else I might be up on some assault charges or even got myself beaten up.

And in case anyone's wondering... no I didn't drive like an *** or cut anyone off... Hell, I don't even live in the town where the vandalism happened. After all that work I was just cruising.

I still park further away if I can, but I no longer make the MINI an island of attraction.

yeah this is nothing new, look how it was for me.

when my firend go to parking lots, we find a bunch of open spaces, pic a line and get our passenger doors as close to the one line as possible, then we have lots of room on either side of our cars.

look at this genious of a driver....

not only at a slight angle, but, they decided to park right next to us in a walmart at 1 am!!!

ever see a parking lot at walmart at 1 am?!?!?!!?

It's a CAR, scratch it yourself somewhere if that's what it takes to get over the obsessive/compulsive disorder of parking in the outback just because someone might get too CLOSE, ...its still just a CAR!

Drive em 'til you crash em, then get another one.

This sounds as bad as the Outlaw Biker HD wannabees who inhabit most local beer joints and "dry run" the dealer every weekend shopping for leather.

Look, its my property and if I want to take care of it so it looks good and keep its value that is my right. Just because it is a CAR vs. say a spleen or something doesn't give someone else the right to dent and damage it, just like you wouldn't want other things defaced. Would you think, gee its just a house if someone tagged it, or accidently spilled paint on it?

You have your stuff which you are free to treat however you want to, I have mine and until you buy it from me you can't treat mine like yours

So you think its okay leave a nice door impression and scratches on other people's cars?

It goes with the territory. Don't like it? Buy a museum or locked safe house, park it there and look at it every day. Life is full of surprises, be careful, sometimes when you obsess over the small stuff, some really BIG stuff comes along to give you a necessary attitude adjustment.

My car is very rare in OHIO

Its like a collector's car. Thats why i care.
cmini?
Live in OHIO Also, where did the kids beat up your car?
If i say someone beating up another MINI , I think my bmw 5 series would become the car from Mad Max "Return from Thunderdoam".

I think 1am in the morning at walmart is a SUV graveyard....
Parking far away attracts too many people, and a car cover would do more problems.
I need a car cover of a truck or chevy pickup... to fool the Mom and Her brat kids opening up the car doors.

Funny story: my girlfriends mom had this happen to her new car and saw the kid open it up then the women rubbed her car with her fist then drove away while her mom was watching... people are so stupid!!
If you have a kid please show them how to open a door and get out.

I also like to take care of my cars and watch where I park. True, you can only do so much, but I have learned that parking far away from store/mall entrances allows me the opportunity to get some walking done, while minimizing (Not eliminating) the risk of getting a door ding.

If you don't give a damn, go ahead and park in the worst/crowded spots. Watch your car turn to junk in no time. Here in Florida people give a rat *** about your car and don't mind opening their doors into yours.

My attitude is spot on, I know what is important in my life. That said, it doesn't mean everything else has no value, and caring is not the same as 'obsessing'. A surprise is a surprise, use and the effects of that on a car, etc is expected - but the actions of people can be controlled, and treating others, and their things, well is part of being civilized and having empathy enough to think about your actions and their effects.

WTF?!

Why not extend your brilliant logic to other possesions - like your home. HEY, IT'S JUST A HOUSE. ... things are bound to get broken at some point. Just get another one.

Duh

I am with C4 just park further away and get some exercise. I get to work early most mornings so I can get the coveted no door opening near me spot (on the end so I only have a car on MY driver's side, so the next person does not get near it unless they have a passenger which never happens.)

And it is not just a car it is MY car and there is no reason why someone not me should do anything to it.

Rumor has it that folding in the SUV mirrors is a good attention getter. Not doing damage just fold on the hinges.

Oh boy.

Go easy folks. Remember to some it is just car. Unfortunately this is gonna become more and more common for our little community.
