That's my question for the day. My car is just SITTING at the dock, and in my head I'm trying to figure out approximately how long until I can get my **** in the driver's seat.

Anyone care to share how long your dealer needed to prep the car before you got to drive it home?

Thanks.

I think it depends on how many MINIs get delivered with your MINI. I would call your salesman and tell him you're leaving town and need it by a certain date...they want your money!

Mine was about a day and a half...

My car came in late on a Thursday afternoon...by 2pm the next day I was motoring! AND they installed the alarm system, too. Lots of the owners on the same truck took delivery on Saturday.

It definitely depends on the dealer. I picked mine up the same day it came in. ...They had most of a business day to prep it for delivery.

Call them! I was "Johnny on the Spot" and had everything lined up as far in advance as I could - including financing.

Hey Needler!

My MINI was delivered to the dealer on Friday afternoon. There wasn't anyone there over the weekend to get it ready for me so I had to wait until Monday afternoon to pick it up. I spent most of the weekend with my face pressed to the glass of the dealer's garage.

Have patience my friend. Your MINI will be here soon and you will LOVE, LOVE it!

My MINI was at the dealer at 2pm on Saturday and I was motoring at 5pm. They installed my skidplate, exhaust tip and then they cleaned and waxed the car. The only thing they did not do was install the alarm. That is being done later.

Since I work in Reno and the dealer is in Tacoma, WA I made sure they knew that I was only in the area on weekends and wanted my MINI as soon as possible.

BTW - My MINI went from the ship in CA to me in WA in three days.......Also, I was the only MINI delivered to the dealer in that shipment.

It was my birthday and my motoring advisor knew it would make me so happy to get my MINI that same day. The car arrived at noon and they had it prepped by 6pm.

Our dealer had the car cleaned up, filled up, and checked out ready to go in not more than 4 hours. However we were lucky, I think our dealer tries to avoid doing more than 2 deliveries a day, and the car came in on a slow day. They had 2 to 3 deliveries a day scheduled for the next 3 or 4 days.

My dealer was awesome...he got my MINI on a Friday morning, and I picked it up that afternoon at 2! Hopefully yours will be as speedy!

At our dealership, we try to avoid same day deliveries, but it can be and has been done. It depends alot on how busy the technicians are, because they are the ones that do the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) when the car comes in. There are several things the technician has to do to get the car ready, plus then it has to go back to the detail department to get cleaned up and made to look shiny and new.
A same day delivery is definitely possible, but it puts a strain on several departments depending on what has already been scheduled.
The hard part is not knowing when the car is actually coming. Most of the time, we have no idea from when the car gets to the port to when it will actually get here, until it actually shows up. That makes it difficult to schedule it in aheasd of time. We usually aim for 2-3 days tops.
Hope that helps.
