Silk Green Auto anyone?

The spouse and I are having a hypothetical discussion. I am eager to know. Who has a Silk Green automatic transmission? How many are out there? Brag on it.

Your post reminded me that mine and my wife's first choice when we checked MINIUSA about eight months before I ordered our '03 MC was Silk Green. When I ordered our CR/W MC in August of '03 Silk Green was no longer available, Never seen it in person on a real MINI, but the pictures looked great. It's got to be rare, especially with CVT.

I wanted Silk Green , but a BRG popped up and I took it. The Silk reminded me of that almost turquoise color the early Minis were available in - like a strange 1950's refrigerator. ;-)

I forget his name, but there was a gentleman in the caravan down to the Dragon in May, that had a Silk Green CVT. This picture was taken at the Rest Area just inside KY, on I-75.

There are a handful of well kept Silk Green MC's here in Miami. Silk Green was one of the shortest lived colors in the MINI lineup. It was offered from March 2002 until January 2003. SG could be ordered with the optional "Emerald Green" interior that included green door panels, carpets and green leather standard seats (Similar to the concept of the current Cordoba Beige interior).

I was never a big fan of the color, but if you wanted something unique back then and now, this was the one to have.

I much prefer the now discountinued Velvet Red Metallic that is even rarer than Silk Green. It was offered only in the Cooper Model from March 2002 to August 2003.

There is one that I know of here in Virginia Beach. My wife and I loved the color. The owner had seats with green geckos on them and the interior a very tropical theme. It really worked well with the silk green.

i never thought of it as being retro. Now that i look at it, i think the same thing. I'm not a green person by any means, but i'm starting to really like it in a retro sort of way.

I am plotting and scheming about eventually having a silk green automatic Cooper of my own............. (it isn't anywhere near in the budget at the moment, so I guess it is a pipe dream for now........) I suppose I should learn to drive a stick to expand my possibilities................................

How could I NOT want another MINI? We just can't all have what we want when we want it. If the world was perfect, and money grew on trees, I could design a new MINI to drive for every day of the week

Silk Green body with Silk Green roof and black checks on the roof would be perfect for Wednesdays

There is a guy in my town that has a SG CVT. I can't remember what color top but I know it was a standard cooper with holies. next time I see him I will flag him down and get more info. There is also a Velvet red, a BRB/W and 2 PW/B in my town of only a few thousand. it's quite odd considering the closest dealers are 45 min+ away!

I'm confused - why would a color offered for 17 months be rarer than a color offered for only 10 months?

Someone who has attended several of the Indy MINI events has a Silk Green, and to me it is just stunning. The hardest part of ordering our MCS was the color choice. Had SG been available (and for the MCS) it would have been a slam dunk. Hold onto those SG's, they are gorgeous.

How does a color equate to maturity?

When SG first came out I was familiar with a classic MINI this very color (or extremely similar). It, too, had a white roof and I always admired this car, so SG was quite an easy leap for me.

I also thought of it as a very British color since many classic Land Rovers i have spent time with were painted a similar but non-metallic color that I believe was called "limestone green"

Yes, the Mini I was familiar with was definitely non-metallic. It wasn't Almond Green but lighter like this.

I love the SILK GREEN!

I have a PS/B, a very safe color combo. I wanted a light metallic and the silver was the only choice available.

When I see those SG MINIs rolling down the street, it makes me smile.
There's a whole bunch of them in San Francisco, not sure if they're CVT.

I think the off the book colors are great:

Hot Orange, should be available in every model, cause it's HOT!

Purple Haze, should only play funk music!

Solid Gold, speaks for itself!

Silk Green, for the chill and refined!
