I cannot for the life of me figure what someone else would have posted this as, so here goes.

Sometimes when I open my driver's door, I hear this strange whirring, electro mechanical sound.

What is it?

I have been told it is the fuel pump priming itself. . .

 

Put a CD in the CD player and see if it stops.

When the car just "wakes up" all the gauges will self calibrate themselves and make a little electric motor sound. I think its that.

 

its the CD player!

for some odd reason, it acts like its loading a CD whenever you open the door!

put a CD in and it will stop.

 

It's the spy cam that the dealer installed. That noise is the tape cueing up.
