Anyone know if cruise can be added to a 2002 Cooper S??

I think it's pretty much cost prohibitive and don't believe anyone has had it done.

It's a crying shame BMW doesn't make it standard equipment. It's one of the few options that can have a profound effect on resale of a MINI.

Not to mention resting your leg, improving gas mileage and helping prevent a speeding ticket. Of course, if you just hate it but have it anyway, it's easy to turn off.

Good luck, maybe I'm just not aware that it can be retrofitted at a reasonable cost.

I've searched this before. There is no aftermarket kit. Dealer can install a factory kit for about $1,500.00 total.

I used to install cruise systems for a living. Every system I've seen has to interface with the throttle cable or linkage. The MINI doesn't have a cable. Now,I've been out of the loop for 5 years, but I doubt there's much readily available in the way of aftermarket CC.

Car and driver had cruise installed on an Insight. It was like $350 + another $350 for installation.

I believe there is a dealer retrofit kit that converts a 3-spoke into a MFSW by adding the buttons to the wheel, and it was around $350 installed. A friend had it done to his 2004 S. They were quoting him $1300 before they found the kit. But I don't know about a 2-spoke.

That would seem to be the best bet as the MINI's electrical system is not exactly user-friendly to aftermarket items.

Cheers

Yeah, I would tend to say that if you can get your hands on a MFSW, all the dealer needs to do is reprogram the car to recognize it, much like the rear fog retrofit. That should give you the radio controls as well.
